Does it kindof move a little when you push the paper clip in then goes back in (only about a millimeter)

How to eject cd from dell inspiron

Press the button the cd drive door or click Start/My Computer then Right Click on the CD Drive and select EJECT.

If it is stuck you will need to take a Paper Clip (Gem Clip) and straighten it out. Then look for the tiny hole on the CD Drive door and push the Paper Clip (Gem Clip) into the hole and Press the the button on the drive door. As you Press the button on the drive door, push the paper clip in and the door will pop open.

Don't worry about breaking something, that is why the tiny hole is there.

I tried opening the CD Rom door on computer and it only makes a clicking sound and the door remains closed.

It might be a broken gear in the CD Rom. get a paper clip, straighten it out. there is a small paper clip sized hole just below the CDRom tray. It sits all by itself. straighten out a least an inch of paper clip and push it in the hole very quickly. This will unlock the CDRom and push it out just a bit. once unlocked you can pull it out all the way. try using it then. It may correct whatever is stopping it.

I put a disk in my hardrive to try and burn the CD and know it is stuck. Wanted to know if there is anyway to get it out without having to go to a repair shop

YES. using a paper clip (unrolled), insert it into the small hole either on the door of the CD drive or just below it. Push until the lock opens the tray a little, then carefully pull the tray out until you can see where the disc is...if the disk is sitting in the tray properly, just remove, if not make a little hook on the end of the paper clip and try to just hook the center hole. REMEMBER to power down you PC before doing any work on it and remember that this is a delicate device and nothing should ever be forced.

The CD rom door on my DELL dimension C521 won't open

Have you tried to manually open the door by sticking a paper clip (unbent) in the small hole on the front bezel of the CD-ROM drive?

Unable to open DVD drawer

If you take a paper clip and straighten it, there is a little hole in the front of the CD drive, push the paper clip into it and your CD drive will get pushed open. This will get a CD out, but will not fix it.

Try re-seating, or connecting a different power cable to the back of the CD drive. Does your PC even recognize that the CD drive is present?

Most of the time the CD drive needs to be replaced.... they are very cheap.

CD STUCK

There is always a hole on the front of the drive. Put a pin thru it and press (not very hard) and the drive lock will unlock.

I tried all of the above except for removing that wire. My Dell 17 is one week old. I cannot eject a disk HELP!

I don't see the previous thread with everything you tried but for a stuck CD-Rom. The first and easiest thing to try would be:

You can straighten a paper clip and use the straight end to fish open the CD-Rom through the little pen head size hole located close to the mouth of the CD tray or around the power button/light.

Cd Stuck

Look at the "door" or "flap" of the cd rom drive. You should see a small round hole. If you straighten out a paper clip and insert it in the hole, push in gently, that will open the door and eject the disk. Please rate this if it helped you.
