Hello ? I own the Averatech N1000 and it performs very well; however, a problem has surfaced with the shut down procedure. If I attempt to shut down after using Explorer, I recv a notice window advising IE has not shut down and must go thru the windows shut down procedure to turn off the book. This error appears as many times equal to how many IE windows I have used and shut down ??? What can I do? Thank You, Dennis Craft

G580 WILL NOT SHUT DOWN

In windows 8, Set to High Performance, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, set What to do when Lid is closed, adjust Advanced Power Options to your preference. Always Shut Down the Laptop and unplug when not in use to prevent damage due to power surges. Passlock dont starter

The Passlock system is notorious for failing. There are 3 different parts of this system that can shut down the car and activate the Antitheft security system. The problem will be one of these 3 things. The key. the ignition lock cylinder, or the TDM. The easiest one is the key. The key will either have a small black chip in the key shaft or a transponder hidden in the key head. If there is a chip, they are known for wearing down and not reading correctly. Try wiggling it, cleaning the chip with alcohol, and taking all other keys off the key chain because it pulls on the key and causes problems. If you have no chip and instead a transponded key, (it will have a little "+" sign by the plastic) you can try performing a relearn procedure. It goes like this.

1. Perform a security system relearn.
2. Let the vehicle sit for more than 10 minutes with the key off.
3. Attempt to start the engine, leave the key in the run position monitoring the security system indicator.
4. After 10 minutes, the security indicator will change state.
5. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.
6. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
7. After the second 10 minute timer has expired, turn the key off for 10 seconds.
8. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
9. After the 3rd 10 minute timer has expired, shut the key off for 10 seconds.
10. The security system will relearn on the 4th starting attempt and the engine should start and run.
If that doesnt work, you will need to start replacing parts. Like i said, there are 3 parts. The key, the ignition lock cylinder, and the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM). all of these are involved in the Passlock system and could be responsible for shutting down the vehicle. And trust me they are all expensive. I always share this link for this problem because there is so much information on there and will be helpful no matter what you decide to do. If all else fails, there is PERMANENT FIX for this problem. You can bypass all aspects of the system and never worry again. That is also on this link.

Lonovo 3000 n1000 shuts down suddenly after starting

Sounds like an overheating problem, remove the side casing and check for fan rotation on all visible fans, most likely the cpu fan, however, the fan itself may not be faulty, check all of the cabinet for dust build up and remove, could be reducing airflow.

I need the Roku N1000 set up instructions.

This manual is VERY similiar to the original N1000. I have the N1000 and just upgraded to the XPS or 2100x. Again, these units are very similiar.

Nuvi 350 on off problems

This is a common problem with the Nuvi series. The on/off switch is a surface mount switch that is mounted vertically off of the main PC board.

The problem is, that there is no support behind the switch, so when you press down the button, the solder leads of the switch are stressed and eventually break off the main PC board. This is a design flaw and could have been easily prevented by wedging a small piece of plastic between the rear of the switch and the SD card housing to give the switch support.

Also, the solder pads for the mechanical connections of the switch could have been made bigger, allowing for more surface area and more solder application.

I have repaired many of these before and I'll be posting a step-by-step procedure on how to fix this and prevent it from happening again.

I must point out however, that in order to make this repair, you will need to have skills in dissassembly and soldering.

Also, please only attempt this procedure if your unit is out of warranty.

If you would like for me to repair your GPS, please email me at KS3R at sharc dot net.

I have to shut down twice

I will first assume this is a Windows-based PC. Does it even attempt to shut down? Do any programs close? Go to the task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and look and click on the processes tab. While the Processes tab is showing, try to shut down following your normal procedure. If the number of processes running (bottom left corner of Task Manger) starts to decrement (at least one fewer) then the shutdown procedure is just getting hung while attempting to close a program. Do this first and let us know.
