How to reset your lost windows password using a CD/DVD or usb fla

Many times we face this problem when we forget or lost Windows password or somebody had changed the password of our system. In such a situation either we have to install windows again or find a solution to reset the password so that we can log into Windows easily. In this post, I will show you how you can reset the password on Windows easily with the help of your Flash Drive without reformatting or reinstalling your system. In this post I will use a Flash Drive of 2 GB. Below are the steps to reset Windows password using bootable USB Flash Drive.
Step1. Download a free demo version of Windows Password Key 8.0
http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/downloads/Windows_Password_Key_Demo.exe
Step2. Run the downloaded file to install Windows Password Key 8.0. You can install Windows Password Key 8.0 on any PC you have access to.
Step3.Windows Start menu - From your Microsoft Windows Start Programs menu, select Windows Password Key | Windows Password Key 8.0.exe. . Windows Password Key 8.0 will be launched automatically.
Step4. Create a bootable USB Flash Drive
4.1 You can click ''Browse'' to browse Windows Password Key 8.0 image file. The file is usually located as the default.

4.2 Select ''USB Flash Drive'' and insert your USB into a USB port on the computer, specify the USB Flash Drive from the pull-down list.

4.3 Click ''burn'' button.

4.4 Windows Password Key extracts the ISO image and copies the necessary files on a USB Flash Drive

4.4: Put in your newly created USB Flash Drive and remove your Windows password:
1. Insert newly created USB Flash Drive and reboot your computer.
2. It's necessary to change your computer's setup to make it boot from the USB Flash Drive.
a. pres 'F2' or 'Delete' or ''F10'' to enter your BIOS setup.
b. Looking for a tab or menu relating to booting in the BIOS setup software's opening screen. In this example, it's simply called ''BOOT,'' and can be accessed by using the tab and/or arrow keys to highlight the word ''BOOT'' on the menu bar. Once there, hit enter, and you'll see a submenu that's specific to how the PC boots.

c. Using the tab and/or arrow keys, select ''Hard Disk Drives'', and hit ''Enter''.

d. Select the ''1st Drive'', hit ''Enter''.

e. Select the ''USB: your USB brand'', in the example it is ''USB: Kingston DTG(2G)'', and hit ''Enter'' to Set the USB Flash drive as the first bootable option.

f. When you're done with the BIOS setup program, using the tab and/or arrow keys to navigate to the EXIT menu, select the option for saving the changes you just made, and then reboot. (In many BIOSes, a special key--often the F10 key--will save, exit, and reboot in one step.) . When your computer restarts, it will boot from the USB flash drive.

3. When the USB Flash Drive boots, you'll see Windows Password Key 8.0 initializing (see screen shot below). If so, you can continue to the next step.

4. Choose the Windows installation to be processed:

5. Choose the user whose password you want to reset by typing it's number and pressing 'ENTER'.

6. Type 'y' followed by 'ENTER' to reset the password.

7. After you confirm the resetting of the password. Windows Password Key 8.0 asks: 'Reset password for another account? (y/n)'. Type 'y' to reset password for another account, or 'n' if you are finished and want to exit. Remove the Windows Password Key 8.0 bootable CD/DVD and restart your PC. Now you are able to log into your computer without a password!

I would like to introduce "Windows Login Recovery". It not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password. I Wrote it to an old 128mb USB flash drive do this. Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm. You can download it from http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com

7 Things You Should Know About Windows 7 Password

As the first safeguard for computer, a computer password plays an important role in computer security. But for a number of reasons, the password can be easily lost, forgotten or cracked easily by others, bringing you serious consequence. To better protect your password and computer, you can learn the 7 tips listed below. With these helpful tips in mind, you can keep a peaceful mind when you forgot or lost Windows 7 password.

1. Avoid weak and common passwords. Today many users like creating passwords using the name of their children or any part of the street address or birthrate or setting a common password like "123456", "password", etc. which are vulnerable to be cracked. Although no password is invulnerable given enough time. But the stronger it is, the more difficult it will be to crack the password with a brute-force search or guessing. A strong password mixed up with upper and lower case letters along with symbols and numbers will definitely improve your computer security.

2. Don't use your Windows password everywhere. Today it's not an easy task for one to create various strong passwords that is easy to remember yet hard to be guessed. For convince, some users may prefer to use a same password for various accounts. But this could be dangerous. If someone compromised your password and they could access to your computer and other accounts with the same password.

3. Create Windows 7 password reset disk. Passwords can be easily forgotten or lost. In Windows 7, the easiest method for this is to create a "Password Reset Disk" firstly. If you have access issues, you can reset Windows 7 password with the disk. Please note the password reset disk will only work for the account it was created for and cannot be used to reset the password of another account. And please remember to store it in a safe place.

4. Change your password on a regular basis. If somebody finds out what your password is, either by cracking by guess, getting access to the file in which you had saved it, or the paper or folder that you had copied it on, your system and data will be at risk. To avoid this, it is advised to keep changing your password frequently. This reduces the possibility of your password being hacked.

5. Fingerprint can also be your password. In addition to letters, numbers and symbols, fingerprint is also one of your choices when creating a password in Windows 7. If you have a biometric sensor like a fingerprint reader, it fairly easy for you to enable the Windows 7 fingerprint logon. With this, you'll be never troubled by a forgotten or lost Windows 7 password. But intentional finger injuries may lock you out of computer.

6. Windows Installation disc is helpful if Windows 7 password lost. If you lost Windows 7 password without a password reset disk, you can use your Windows 7 installation disc and access to recovery options to bypass it. This is a very efficient method and works well but you must have a viable system restore point to use that was created before you started having logon issues. If you don't have a Windows installation disc, can't find your Windows installation disc, you can also create a Windows 7 system repair disc to use to boot to the system recovery options that can help you recover the forgotten password.

7. Resort to password recovery if Windows 7 password gets lost. Forgetting Windows password is not a big problem as long as you get reliable Windows password recovery software. As for Windows 7, it is highly suggested to try Windows Login Recovery if you are not good at computer. It allows you to reset Windows 7 password by burning a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive in a few minutes.

Lost the password cannot login to the computer, what should we do?

It is normal that we forget something, especially a password which we set, and do not use it often it evaporates! How to handle such a situation?

Let us understand the different type of passwords we use.
1. BIOS / System setup password
2. Windows password
3. Wireless access password (passkey)
4. Router log in password
5. File level Password (used when we compress / zip a file or when we create a word or excel file)
6. Password for our email
7. Hard drive password (some laptops have this feature)

Let us see how to tackle when we loose any such passwords one by one.

1. BIOS / System setup password:
This is saved in the flash memory present on the motherboard.

If you forget this we can reset it by using the Clear CMOS settings jumper present on the motherboard. We have to refer to the user manual of the motherboard or the computer for locating this jumper.

If this is set to your laptop, you will have trouble especially if your computer is out of warranty, since only the manufacturers can help you reset a laptop system setup / BIOS password. Write a mail to them, about the situation.

2. Windows password:
This is saved in the hard drive (of course encrypted)

If this is set in windows XP, try pressing CTRL+ALT+Del twice in the login screen. Type administrator in the username box and do not type anything in the password box (usually administrators / system installation technicians forget to give an administrator password.) and hit enter, if you can login successfully you can reset the password from this account. If this does not work there are still ways to bypass it for that you need expert advice, contact us.

If this is setup in Windows Vista / Windows 7 you need to have your Vista / Win 7 installation DVD and some expert advice and we can help you.

3. Wireless access password (passkey):
If you forget your wireless passkey, you have to refer to the router / access point manual and log in to the router page (before login, that requires another password - refer to your manual, defaults will be there) and there you can either see the passkey or change it to a new passkey.

4. Router log in password:
If you have changed the router log in password, refer to the manual again on how to reset the router / access point, usually with a small button present at the back panel of the router. (be aware that all your router settings will be changed to factory settings and if you have other computers that are working fine that will also not connect to internet unless you reconfigure it)

5. File level Password:
If you have set a password while creating a word or excel file or while you zip it, I would recommend not to forget it. Some of them can be recovered but not always

6. Password for our email:
If your forget the password for your email then click on the forgot password link and answer to the questions which you have set while signing up for the email, the password will be reset or sent to another email. If you have not set such questions log in to day to your email account and set up those questions.

7. Hard drive password:
This password feature is available in certain laptop models. (be careful when you buy second hand / old laptop hard drives if this password was set you hard drive will not work untill you give this password.) This password can be reset by the respective manufacturer of the computer in which this hard drive was shipped / configured.

So do not panic when you get into such situations, read through the above options and contact us for additional help.
