My printer will not turn on. We had a storm

My printer will not turn on. We had a storm recently (Saturday night) where our power went out temporarily, almost like a power surge. Could this have done it? I've checked all the connections and nothing is amiss in that area. Any ideas?

Have you tried the printer on a completely different wall plug, in a different area of our home or office?
Have you checked our circuit breaker(s) to make sure they are all on?

If you don't have a surge protector inline with your printer power supply, a balckout, brownout and possible surge when it comes back on could very well have damaged the power supply and/or printer.

Storm could also mean power spikes and damage to the printer circuit. If the printer was connected to the mains the damage could have been done. Open it up if you have the tools and look for bulged or burst ICs, those black rectangular pieces on the inside of the printer. If you can locate any, then the whole module has to be replaced with a new one of exactly the same specs.

Check your power supply. Is the light coming on? Also check voltage out of the power supply with a multimeter . Is the voltage correct? ... wiggle the power jack with the adapter hooked up. Does it move? If so its come unsoldered off of the main board.

you need a power supply. That is where the fuses are and you should not replace them.

Have you checked the fuse[s]? You don't mention your location so I cannot comment of what protection devices that may be involved. UK has fused 13amp wall plugs for example.

Will not turn on MP830

I just had the same thing happen to me. There was a lightning storm here on Saturday night so, even though I have a surge protector, I assume that it took a surge. HERE IS THE SOLUTION! If you unplug the printer (pull the plug!) for at least 20 minutes (which lets the system discharge)then plug it back in, the system is allowed to reset and will fire back up when you press the power button. I know the above post is 3 weeks old, but I'm hoping this will help other searchers like me as well.
