Tv comes on and has no picture. menu there, video on monitor jack

If it has no internal sound, then you obviously can't make it function like a TV aside from the picture right? It does have inputs whether HDMI or standard Cable wiring to see TV from a cable box?

You'd need to have RCA cables coming from the cable box (Audio out - white wire I'd figure) going into a stereo near the monitor that has a VIDEO button on it where the white RCA cable is plugged into the Audio In jack.

A stereo receiver or even old sort of stereo with a Video or Auxillary sort of jack with button to activate that jack will allow for surround sound from the stereo coming from the cable box in sync with the video of the TV.

Non-HDMI sound to your TV monitor or sound system must be obtained from your laptop's Headphone or S/PDIF jacks. Headphone is stereo and S/PDIF is 5.1 surround sound. Headphone is electrical, but S/PDIF may be electrical or optical (laser light). You must set the sound jack that you intend to use as the default on the PC control panel (Start/Control Panel/Sound).

None of these connectors is two-way in the context of an LCD monitor - your PC cannot record a TV picture or sound from the external monitor. To accomplish this you must purchase a video converter box that converts cable TV or video+sound inputs to USB format usable by your laptop. Do this and you can turn your laptop into a Tivo recorder/DVD burner using Beyond TV, Sage TV or a variety of other software packages.

Ok, I need more verifications:
1) Your TV is Fujitsu Siemens PlasmaVision P42VHA40 Monitor which does not have tuner? If not, please provide the make and model of the TV.

2) What kind of cables you are using to hook between the cable box and the TV? HDMI? Component video (Red, Blue, and Green cables withe RCA plugs)? Composite video cable with Yellow RCA plugs?

3) Are you trying to get the sound to come out off the TV speakers or through the stereo system?

The connection to your tv is video only. You should hear sound coming from computer speakers. Unplug them and hook your stereo to that plug in.

Hello... I found the following in the user manual for this TV. Also, some RCA models have a speaker switch on the back of the TV. If none of this solves the problem, your TV may need service. I hope this helps...

Sound problems, picture okay
• Maybe the sound is muted. Try pressing the volume up button to restore sound.
• If using S-Video or Y Pb Pr, remember to also connect the component's left and right audio output jacks to the TV's AUDIO jacks.
• Make sure the Volume option in the Sound menu is turned up.
• Make sure headphones aren't connected to the headphones jack.

I had the same problem. The speakers are mounted below the the LCD Monitor. There is no internal connection between the speakers and the TV Audio. There should have been a short patch cord in your box having one jack on one end and two wires with mono jacks on the other. Plug the stereo jack into the audio out on the monitor and then plug the other jacks into the left and right side of the speakers (the wires should be marked L and R). If you cannot find the jack, I'm sure that you can find one on line or get one from Radio Shack.
