"No scan options" error message on Officejet 4315

"No scan options" error mesage appears when scan button is pressed.
(Printer, copy, fax functions work OK)
I have accessed the solution on the HP support web site. Step #1 is "Open the HP Director software". I have not been able to find that site. I think this is probably an indication that a scan destination was not selected when the software was installed?
Could you tell me how to access the "Hp Director software, or will I need to uninstall the Officejet 4315 and then reinstall it?
My computer is a Dell 530 Inspiron, with Windows Vista Premium.
Thank You, Robert Beabout, Aurora, CO

Does the fax/scanner light come on at all? If not, then that's the problem, because that's the only part that likely needs to warm up.

Lexmark Productivity Suite --the faxes don't go through -- error message

Are you able to send faxes when using the printer operator panel - not through Lexmark Productivity Suite application on your computer? Are you able to receive faxes without any problems? You can also try to decrease the transmission speed when sending faxes. On your printer operator panel:
  1. Press the Fax button, then press Options 15 times to get to ADVANCED FAX.
  2. Press Select.
  3. Press Options ten times until MAX SEND SPEED appears on the LCD display.
  4. Change it to 9600 BPS using the - (left arrow) button.

Scan not functioning. Provides NO ERRORS.

Unplug the power cable from the All-In-One when there is still power in the unit.
Also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Leave the cable unplugged for atleast 1Min time.
And connect the cable directly to wall outlet with out any surg protector (if you have a different outlet try with that)
Then before connecting the cable to the All-In-One press and hold the # and no 9 button do not release the buttons untill it comes up with a mesage as reset (or if the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power on)
Then press the setup/menu button and then press the right arrow key till you see print reports> the press Ok and scroll to print test page and check if it is functioning properly.
Then try a color or Black copy and check.

Good Luck
