Laptop not seeing my wireless router

I have a new laptop with vista operating systern
I bought a D-Link router DSL - 2640B and set it up so that I can have the desktop wired to it and the laptop as wireless and everything was fine then all of a sudden the laptop doesn't pick up the Router
I've gone through everything and even reset the router but it still doesn't work , the laptop picks up other connection in the area so I'm certain that the wireless adapter inside the laptop is ok - Help !!!

I have a Westell 327 DSL connected through Verizon. It has worked well for over two years. About 10 days ago, the wireless stopped working. Tivo can no longer connect and the two laytops I use for work no longer connect. Both laptops show the network, but both indicates it to be an adhock peer-to-peer network. Is there any way to set the modem to make this an internet connection again or has the modem failed? The hard wired ethernet connection continues to work fine.

You can also try disabling any security (momentarily of course just for testing) and try. If if does connect, then try resetting key or your encryption/security. Good luck.

Try to manually "Add device to network" by using the wireless setup wizard. Check to see if the Wireless Zero Configuration service is "Running" before trying to add device. Yuo may also want to disable IPv6 in vista tcp/ip properties page.

If you forget the password, you need to reset the device to the factory default settings. In that case, all configuration settings of the device are lost then you need to reconfigure the router,
To reset the device to factory default settings, follow the instructions from this link,http://global.dlink.com.sg/site_support/DSL-2640B/Manual/DSL-2640B_manual_v2.pdf

I have bought a wireless ADSL modem, Dlink DSL 2640u , How can I install and use it for another laptop? I want to use it without wire. Thanks

all wireless devices must be allowed in the router by either MAC address or by name. This is accomplished by logging into to the router and setting up the device in with the wireless setup feature in your router. The router will not allow the device to connect without permissions.

Hi i bought d-link 2640u and i am using as land but i don't know how to use it wireless with my laptop del vostro1510 . if u could help me up i be so thankfull. my e-mail is [email protected]

You said that your are using it as a wired connection and I believe the wired connection is working properly.
The you will need to open the router set up page and create a new wireless network or check the wireless settings of the router.
Once you get the wireless settings of the router , you will need to connect to the wireless network on the wireless computer. it depends on the operating system on your computer.

Pleasssssssssse help : on router G624T

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

How to change channels see page 27.
For manual channel setting "Enable Auto Channel Scan" needs to be
disabled / not selected.

Note: default login user and password for the router is both admin.
Login opening Internet Explorer entering http://192.168.1.1 as address page.
