Question about HP Photosmart Pro B8350 InkJet Printer
Essentially my B8350's will not print at all if I have alterred the print preferences in any way.
I identified this after I had installed the print driver and set up the printer. A test page was printed and an allignment page was printed no problem. I was able to print a word document in the default settings however, when I tried alterring the print preferences to change the print quality the document failed to print at all.
When this happens a print job appears momentarily on the PC, the printer's power light flashes in acknowledgement and the printer whirs in preparation to take the paper, but then the print job disappears and the printer's power light stops flashing as if it has carried out the print job.
I have 2 of these printers and it occurs on both, I have downloaded the print driver direct from HP as well as using the discs provided on many an occasion, I have had windows removed from the PC and reloaded and have tried this on a total of 3 separate PC's but the problems still occurs.
HP are as much use as a chocolate teapot and have not resolved the issue. I beleive I need a patch to repair the driver as I have confirmed it is not the PC, it is unlikely to be the printer itself as the printers were bought on different occasions (not the same batch) and all other steps have been taken to diagnose. Also, my first B8350 did print no problem for a while!
Apart from this I can only assume I am doing something wrong but it is so simple, I can't see what!
I hope someone out there can give me a solution as I am at the end of my tether!!!!!

I have the exact problem and tried the same solutions with the same results. HP even replaced the unit twice. Now I am trying to get HP to exchange it for a different printer that works.

Windows Vista Problems Issue Print jobs are collected in the print queue and do not print. This occurs on printers connected to the computer with a Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable. The issue occurs when microsoft XPS document writer is loaded on a computer before or after the product is installed. The XPS document writer updates the Unidrv.dll and the Unidrvui.dll files from version 0.3.1296.4 to 0.3.6000.16438. The product will then no longer print in the best mode or maximum dpi modes.
Print out the instructions and follow them. Has completely resolved my situation ever time Windows XP has updated the XPS document reader.

HP have now, reluctantly admitted it is a fault with the printer (known), take it back to the retailer and get your money back!!!!!
