My older computer with a dell 1450 usb wireless adapter cannot find my Verizon MIFI hotspot, it does see other wireless networks in the air

Most likely the adapter and the hotspot do not support the same wireless standards. Verify they both support a similar standard and they the hotspot is broadcasting in that standard.
Current standards are 802.11a,b,g,n

I don't have sound coming out of my computer. I've checked the wiring, volume controls, and speakers and they all check out okay. My computer is a Dell Dimension 9100. Help!! [email protected]

Hi,
if you are not getting no sound, from the computer and you have checked all the hardware settings. The problem could be that you are missing drivers for windows sound devices . You can try downloading and installing the drivers from the following link

Ethernet connection failure

I think you just need to install the right drivers for the hardware:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Go to this link and it has all the drivers you need. If you need further help, let me help.

Wireless router with dimension 3000

It seems that you have Dell Desktop computer, unless you requested a wireless card to be put into the computer, it would not come with one. Just like stang_1 mentioned, you should check your network adapters to see if your wireless card is listed. Also since it is a desktop, you can check the back of it to see if you have an Antenna sticking out of it. That would indicate that you have a wireless card on the PCI slot. And if that is the case and you do not see it listed in the network connections, check the Device Manager and make sure that the drivers are installed properly.

Dell Wireless 2350 BroadBand Router

You may get some benefit from downloading and installing Netstumbler

This util will allow you to scan the channels and select a chanel with less devices on it. then change the broadcast channel in the wifi router. This may reduce interference in the connection.

Also cordless phones are notorious for interfering with wifi routers so put some distance between the router and the base if you can.

Another option is to get an external antenna for the router to boost signal strength

something like THIS or THIS and place up high on a shelf. Just check your router antenna is the sort that comes off... should unscrew. not all do unfortunately so be careful not to break yours!!

BTW - the router is not a bad unit but it also is not the best around either REVIEW

Ethernet Controller

I had to reinstall XP like 6 months ago, on a dimensions 3000. just reinstall the drivers. here i think this is all of the drivers.
just start "Dell Driver Reset Tool.EXE"
and run "Sownd driver for 3000.EXE"
driver for vga "Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller.exe"

and the Ethernet driver "Intel PRO100 VE Network Connection.exe"
Click Here for a zip of all the drivers.
