My netgear usb connects to my wireless belkin router with a strong signal @ 54 mps..but my dell laptop computer ( running xp ) is unable to connect to internet , message keeps coming with limited or no connectitivity ?
Please help ! I have tried re installing etc.
This message comes when your computer is not getting the IP address from the router.
There are possible reasons for that.
1. DHCP on the router may be disabled.
2. If your network is secured , then you might not be typing the correct network key.
In both the cases , you will need to check the settings of the router.
You will need to access the router set up.

if it's going offline, then it's losing the signal, or is recieving a low signal, it should be at 54mbps but when it gets below around 24mbps, it will disconnect and look for a stronger connection in your area, or disconnect from the net altogether.
Put your router in a higher and better line of sight to your adapter, walls and floors can block the signal and check that it's not your router that is losing the connection.
