I have a gateway lp2407 monitor and can not get a picture but the power is on. The blue display lights on the right side of the frame light up, then go away while the power button stays blue. Tried unplugging everthing but did not work. Slammed the keyboard and got a smaller resolution picture for only a day. Any suggestions appreciated.

After removing all the back cover screws the lid has snap retention take a plastic or wood and work your way around to unsnap the cover.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

I've the same situation with the lp2407 and it is bad caps as DarkAngell suggested.. You can go to badcaps.net and look for troubleshooting displays under Gateway 24" LCD Model LP2407 and you will even see the list of parts you will need and where to order them.

How to take the cover off an LP2407

There are 3 screws along the bottom of the monitor, remove those along with any screws where the stand is attached. There are 2 slots on the bottom where the halves of the monitor come together; with a screw driver, you can use those for leverage. With another small screwdriver on the sides of the monitor where the front shiny cover, and the duller back case come together, pry the shiny piece away from the back cover and lift. It is a very tight snap fit, you have to go slow and coax it off.When you get the front cover started you can usually pull it off with your fingers by lifting up. Be very careful Of the front panel switch ribbon cable it is very easy to break. Hope this helps

there are so many things that can go wrong, the best thing is to take/send to a professional , or i can take a look at it.
many repairs are the standard capacitor replacement, but many others should be done by someone that has a bit of background in electronics to test all the circuits. For more help i can be contacted at [email protected]

The capacitors for the power source are failing. This causes a short burst of power to get to the lamps, but then they cannot hold a charge to continuously power the lamps. You will have to replace the monitor. I suggest checking your warranty status and replacing the monitor.

I have a gateway FPD2185W TFT Monitor with the power button always ON (blue) and no video. Nothing is working: menu, input, etc..

Look at the monitor at and angle from the top, bottom or side. You are looking for a faint picture of what you would usually see. You will need some good light to see this. If you do see a faint picture this means the backlight on the lcd is broken. I would get a new monitor, I would not recommend trying to replace the backlight.

I have a gateway FPD1975W monitor with a Gateway GT5482E computer. The monitor does not display the computer output - the blue power light blinks off and on steadily and every so often the monitor says...

From your description you have a power supply problem, usually caused by defective capacitors, sometimes they will bulge at the top indicating an open condition. If you decide to repair check the inverter board that powers the back lights behind the screen, because they are also prone to bad caps.

How do you turn these monitors on

theere is a touch area that has a depression in the lower right corner of the frame outside the screen, this is the on / off Button. when it powers up the controls and the on of button will be lighted, blue in color.

Unhooked and moved my computer to another part of my room and the monitor now comes on with the power saver display and button is blue, then power saver display goes off and button turns yellos light and...

Sounds as if your monitor is not receiving a signal from your video card. In all likelihood, the video card came unseated during the move. Open the case and re-seat the video card, that should do the trick.

Write back if that does not solve the problem.
