Batteries inc stores (if you have one in your town) or their website, can replace almost any battery Vector uses. You dont need the model number of the battery or spotlight, just give them the old battery,
OR if working by website, give them: the dimensons of the battery (h, w, d,), the voltage, and the amp hour rating. They will find one that is the same voltage, close to the same dimensions or a little smaller, and close to the same amp hour rating. The only thing that must be exact is the voltage.
NOTE: there are many websites that sell lead-acid batteries, I have personally used batteries inc. at www.batteries-inc.com

SOURCE: Finding a SEL DMU 6-6 battery for spotlight

Regarding replacement source for Vector Spot battery "SELDMU 6-6": As of my original need in Late Oct. 2010, FriendlyFred's andjoboo1's advice were obsolete. Atlanta Lightbulbs' YUNTONG PS660 (6V,6AH) is now replacedby the more expensive YUNTONG PS640 (6V4.5 AMP HOUR), an inferior product to the original. Ace Hardware was "OUT OF STOCK". So, I found an excellent functional equivalent: the Tempest TR6-6at BatterySpec @ http://www.batteryspec.com/cgi-bin/cart.cgi?action=link&product=313. (I suggest avoiding their TR6-6A for Vectors Spotlights: it's a littlebigger, and may not fit. Also, BatterySpec suggests the Tempest 5-6A as anequivalent for the original "SEL DMU 6-6"; that's only equivalent if5ah=6ah. Caveat Emptor) You can see the actual specs on this product at (themanufacturer) Tempest's web site: http://www.tempestbatteries.com/html/tr6-6.html. This seems to be a virtually identical battery as Vector's original "SEL DMU 6-6" in every way but one. Vector's battery had one F1 (.187" wide) terminal, and one F2 (.250" wide) terminal. On the BatterySpec's Tempest, both terminalsare F1. This was no problem: the Vectorlamp's leads snap snug and secure over both terminals. I paid $10.90, plus $10.13 shipping, ordered on Saturdaymorning 10/23, got a shipping confirmation from their San Jose CA warehouseMonday evening 10/25, and received it in Virginia on Monday morning11/1/2010.

jwgbounder,
despite the relatively recent acquisition,
apparently Black & Decker no longer services Vector products either.
They sold their Vector line to Baccus Global LLC as of about August 2010
(see http://support.blackanddecker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5771 ).

I have the same lamp you do, and here's how I recently replaced my battery.

I need a new DIAMEC battery DMU 12-8 for a peg-perego toy where can i find this?

I dealt with the same problem..... They are easy to find... but they will get you for too much money for the name brand replacement.
Just goto amazon and search for the UB645 replacement battery and you will be able to get just as good of a battery (actually better) for under $12 with free shipping OR you can get two batteries shipped for $16. Nothing like having an extra battery to be safe :)
Hope this helps anyone else looking!!!
By the way, it looks like you can get more than you paid if you have a great working one as they are somehow being lumped in as collectables.... WFT??

I NEED TO KNOW WERE TO BUY A DMU 6-3 6v3ah BATTERY

I have the 500,000 candlepower version which uses the same battery.
Interstate batteries says they have one but need at least a 30-day lead
time (!). www.BatteriesSpec.com called me back last night and said
their TR2-6 was close: approximately the same size but rated at 2 AH
(vs. 3). I commented it would just not run as long.

Ordered this morning; the gentleman I talked to at BatteriesSpec was
Ron Evans and he requested I get back with him after installing the
battery for feedback. HTH,

We have a V Vector spot light 3,000 candle watt and need a new battery. The original is a SEL DMU 6-6 6VAH.

In March, 2006, Black & Decker purchased Vector Products, Inc. Since the acquisition, Black & Decker has assumed the manufacturing of all Vector products. For customer service and warranty information for Vector products, please contact Black & Decker Customer Service. Or, you can order a replacement battery from: www.batterymart.com/p-6v-4_5ah-sealed-lead-acid-battery.html

New battery

A lower capacity battery (12v 8Ah) can/should preferrably be replaced by a better capacity (12v 12Ah), and usually more expensive, quality battery of the same voltage with higher amperage rating: it will in general take longer to charge but will also last longer in usage.
Please make sure that you fully charge and discharge your new battery pack a few times to 'condition' it.

Hope it helps and have fun!

Finding a SEL DMU 6-6 battery for spotlight

I just ordered 5 batteries of same size and spec from:
http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/ecart/nw012104/YUNTONGYT-660(6V6AH.20HR.htm
$9.34 per plus shipping.

I found another compatable but it was only a 5 Amp/hr battery. The above link is a direct replacement for the SEL DMU 6-6 6V6AH battery that came with the dual spotlight.

Measurements, electrodes exactly the same..

They just call it a YT-660 made by Yutong...

You are welcome...
