Few of the various methods ...

  1. Step 1 Dampen a clean cotton ball, and gently rub it across the CD to help remove any dirt or grime that may mar the performance of the CD. Move the cotton ball carefully from the center of the CD to its rim. Pat dry with a clean cloth.
  2. Step 2 Spray the CD scratches with glass cleaner, and gently rub with a soft, clean cloth as an alternative method for cleaning. Dip a cloth in water, and wipe the surface to rinse. Pat dry with a dry cloth, and once the CD is clean, proceed to buffing out CD scratches.
  3. Step 3 Use toothpaste to gently buff out CD scratches. Apply a small amount of paste to the affected area, and use a clean, soft rag to buff. Move in a circular motion from the center outward, and continue for several minutes. Remove the toothpaste with a clean cloth. Test the CD, and if it still doesn't play, repeat.
  4. Step 4 Use baking soda to buff out CD scratches. Combine enough water with a tablespoon of baking soda to form a thick paste. Apply to the affected area, and buff using a clean, soft cloth, moving in a circular motion from the center outward. Wipe the baking soda mixture from the CD using a clean cloth, and test the CD. Repeat this procedure if necessary.
  5. Step 5 Use Brasso to clean CD scratches or gently buff them away. Apply a small amount to the CD, and rub from the center of the CD to its rim on the scratch only. Avoid rubbing over any unnecessary areas. Wipe off the Brasso, and test the CD. Repeat if necessary.

Try updating the firmware... Also, check if any other disc works or not.. If it does, then get the disc which you have inserted is at fault, try to replace it... If that's not possible, try cleaning it by various methods... If all else fails, and you have no other option but to throw that disc, try using toothpaste on it ... It works sometimes..

SOURCE: gamecube console

You may have to adjust the POT of the GameCube lens... The POT is basically the power and spread the lens uses to read discs... the problem is, over a long period of time, the POT figure drops down, and if it drops too low, you will need to replace the lens.. The machine could still be salvageable, and play games and load them faster than before if you adjust the POT on the machine.. Here is a guide on what is required to open up the machine and do it, if you feel it necessary.... http://modthatcube.pxn-os.com/content/pot.htm

Did you try turning the disk over so the label shows on the opposite side. With the Wii you have to put them in upside down it seems.

Why wont my xbox 360 elite read discs? i put disc in and it comes up reading and then open tray

My only questions are does the console say the discs are damaged in any way? and is the console standing up right?
If the discs are scratched in any way then that might cause the 360 to not read the disc and sometimes having a console play the disc upright (example of upright 360) for a long time can cause dis function when trying to play discs, so try playing the discs with the console on its side (side example) These are my solutions to the problem but you can try these: Solution 1 Solution 2

Does not read games

Hi,

Follow these steps when you are facing "disc wont read" problem

Step 1:Remove the disc from the system.

Step 2:Use a cloth to clean in small circles around the disc (not in a big circle going around the disc). Use DVD or CD disc cleaner if available. If you use cleaner, use a different dry cloth to clean the disc no more than three minutes after application.

Step 3:Verify that there are no disc-destroying marks on the disc. Deep scratches and chips in the middle of the disc can render a disc inoperable. As your Playstation 3 is used more and more, the lens that reads Blue-ray discs can become dirty. This will lead to discs skipping or not being read by the console. If you find this is happening on your Blue-ray discs, either movies or games, you may need to have your console cleaned. Be careful when attempting any sort of cleaning of your console, as improper handling will further damage the Playstation 3. Contact a member of Playstation Support for information on console maintenance.

Thank you !!

To install wii fit

"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" / "Eject the Game Disc" Error Message.
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
  • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. insertdisccorrect.gif
    • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
    • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

  • If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures

  • If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options.
