You should see a harness strap over each shoulder that goes though the shell, behind the seat, and connects to a metal splitter plate.
The front of the harnesses (2) extend down though the buckle tongues then into the hip area of the seat.
There is a crotch strap that comes out of the shell where the child\'s crotch is. The buckle is attached to this strap.
There will be a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) strap that goes through one of two belt paths. If used, this strap must go though the proper belt path.
Finally, there is a top tether strap the comes from the back of the seat - near the top - that will attach to the tether anchor in your car (see your car owner\'s manual)
My suggestion to you is to purchase a new seat. The protection of your child is most important.
Here is the pic you requested. I am going to link to where I got it from as there was an issue (not a recall) with the harness getting cuts in it and I would like you to be aware of it. Being a parent I know how important those straps are. Hope this helps. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=48028
its kinda tough being 1993 cars not having the back latch. The only quick solution to keep it tipping side to side, try using a square piece of plywood big and wide enough that the seat will sit on the flat surface and you have to use the center seat belt making sure its tight and secure to make it work properly.
The manufacturer's instructions are the final authority - don't trust anyone else giving you instructions! Here are the links to download Cosco carseat instructions:
The straps that are attached to the seat are supposed to be used with the LATCH system that has been built into newer cars. You use the straps on the carseat to hook into metal loops under the seat instead of using the seat belt. If you aren't sure whether you have the latch system in your car or not, consult your owners manual or call a dealership and they should be able to tell you.
