DEH-P7900BT display issue

I installed the deck in my 99 dakota, everything worked fine. After about 3 weeks the display started acting strange. About once every min. the display will reverse (posative to negative) for about 10 seconds then go back to normal. This happens in every mode including when the deck is turned off. All functions (tuner, ipod, BT phone, CD) work just fine. At first I thought it was searching for a BT signal or something so I went through the entire setup with no success. I took it in to the place I purchased it and after they did a "hard reset" on it they told me it was probably an installation problem. I find that a little hard to believe due to the fact that it didn't do it for 3 weeks prior. Any suggestions that could solve this issue?

Hey....alll you have to do is hold the "sourece" button until the unit shuts off, then push the wheel in until a menu shows on the display. scroll over until you see the "reverse mode" option...simply push either up/down or left/right to turn this off!!! NOW UR DONE!

I would be willing to bet There is a problem in you detachable Keyboard. I would go to Dealer and see if they will let you try one from a different stock unit they have to help isolate problem. This part would be covered under warranty if radio is taken to a Authorized pioneer service center.

I would check both of the power wires for the unit. There is a yellow one and a red one. The yellow one always has power regardless of the position of the ignition switch. The red one only gets power when the ignition switch is in the on position. Also does this only happen when the vehicle is in motion or does it happen just sitting and listening to the stereo? It also could possibly be the ground wire not getting a good connection. Make sure the ground wire is tightly connected to something that is metal. Good luck.

Installing pioneer deck

Considering you have done many installs, make sure you check the fuse in the back of the unit. Then check all the fuses in your car. My car has 4 fuses for the radio.
