Likely standard VGA ... unless you have an HD card in your computer ... I got one for mine in order to play blu ray after I bought a blu ray drive for my computer. In that case I needed an HDMI cable. HDMI passes both the video and the audio, otherwise you need to connect also a stereo audio cable between your sound card output and the tv input, close to the computer VGA connection.

Type of Cord to hook Laptop to TV
You need a standard VGA cable to go from the laptop to the TV. Keep in mind that the sound will still come from the laptop not the TV speakers. You can get a cable here if you need one.

If your dvd player has a hdmi hook up "easy" just use 1 hdmi cable from the dvd player to the tv. If not use the 5 cord for better picture quality.

I have a vizio 32in plasma tv that has a rgb connection. I would like to find a cord that connects my compaq presario vx2508 but I have no idea what to look for and what is compatible with my computer.
You can go to any major electronic store and pick one up. Just tell the the clerk to give you a vga cable to hook up your computer to the t.v. I also have the visio 32 inc and love it.I hook mine up to a presario v6000. You will need a seperad audio cable also. Just a normal stereo jcack. On my tv it is right there at the rgb input.

Hooking up surround sound to TV
You have to get an optical audio cord.

The optical output on the vizio is right next to the ac cord. Make sure that your audio amp has the same input conection.
