Go into the start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools, and pick system restore. There you should be able to restore your system settings to last week.

Hi

you could try to do a system restore back to just over a week ago that may do it for you

I dont know you laptop or operating system so try to get to it this way

start
type in
system restore
click on system restore
if the restore date is not just more than a week or so ago
then look down the bottom left of the restore box to see if you can click on
show more restore dates
if so click on it and choose a date that you think all was how you liked it

now do the restore

when you have it as you like it
please create a new restore point and name it something like ( how i like it )
so if you have a problem again you can reconise the restore point and take it back to it again

to do this go to
start
type in
create restore point
name it
then create it
job done

good luck

The HP laptop i got is only a month old. Everything was working fine until last week when the webcam started not to work. It said working fine on the panel but in websmart it said must be turned on.

If it's just a issue from last week then you can do one thing if you have exact idea on which date it was working fine. You must restore in to the that date or prior to that date. if have a window XP then you can type in run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe" and start the process your computer to back date. And in case of Windows 7 check with this link : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

if you can restore you computer to back date when you cam was working ..then the issue will be resolved. Otherwise you may go for re-installation of the software for web-cam.

When trying to back date my computer through system restore, it will only let me go back 4 days. I want to go back 2 weeks. what's happening ?

Odds are you don't have a system restore point that is 2 weeks old.
System restore works based on the amount of memory you set aside for it. It continually erases former restore points to make room for new ones.

When trying to back date my computer through system restore, it will only let me go back 4 days. I want to go back 2 weeks. what's happening ?

Hai,

This happens when the restore point was successfull created or it could be a problem with missing files in restore point, however you can restore the computer upto 14 days back, it could not restore if you trying to restore more that 14 days.

It's purely corruption of the restore point files, however let us try to restore the computer using safe mode options.
Restart the computer and keepon tapping F8 key and you will see advanced boot options, please select safe mode and press enter, from safe mode try to restore you computer.

This should fix the issue.

Cant go back to created restore point

your pc probably automatically creates restore points and there is a limit on the space they can take so it automatically starts to remove the old ones.

to my experience system restore in xp was a total peace of ****
takeing up extra space and when used caused more problems than it fixed.

In my honest opinion system restore shouldnt be used.

Set Time back

To restore your settings to 2 weeks prior:
Click start > programs > accessories > system tools > restore.

To set the time back to 2 weeks earlier:
Double click the time clock at the bottom right hand corner of your screen and change the date and time.

However, if you mean you lost the printer driver, neither one of those options will find the driver. If the driver is not on your system, even doing a restore will not bring back something that is missing.

You can download the drivers for your printer here.
