I have a Sony Model #KP-51WS520 and when I attempt to power it on I receive nine flashing red blinks, then nothing for a few seconds, then another nine flashing red blinks. I have attempted several times to unplug the unit and power on after a minute and still the same reaction.

Count the number of flashes in between a slight pause and see if its a 9 blink error or not. Then let me know how many blinks the red light is doing and I will assist you with the issue
Standby flashing light shows that tv got some internal problem. How many times standby light is flashing is info that provide info about what section of tv got problem. Count standby light blinks and let me know, there would be 3 seconds long pause in blinks so count pause to pause.
Nine Blinks- Replace D6116 and D6301 on the "G" board, do not solder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negative).
The flashes are fault codes. It means your system is faulty. If it is intermittent then it is more than likely a dust issue. Buy an air duster, spray out the back and restart. Should be fine
