Question about Intel Everex LM7WE Notebook

Dvd/cd drive This computer is a real piece of junk. Nothing works consistently. My biggest probems are; 1. The computer will freeze for no explained reason. It will freeze when doing high intensity functions or playing solitaire. There is an led that indicates activity, and when it locks fully on, the computer has frozen. Cntl, Alt, Del has no effect. Only restarting the computer will work. There are days where I am forced to restart my computer 15-20 times just to complete a simple task. There is no excuse for this. I have disconnected all external devices, but this does not matter. I have disconnected everythign and run the computer on batteries, but the freezing still occurs. I am ready to throw this @#$%^ across the room. 2. The dvd/cd drive is not reliable. It won't read a lot of DVD's that work fine in other computers and DVD players. It refuses to read CD's somethimes, yet after re-starting or using the computer for other purposes, the CD will magically become readable again. I have had the drive replaced, and it worked OK for about 10 minutes. I sent it in again to the extended warranty company, and they replaced the drive again, and after working OK for about 10 minutes, it again refuses to operate reliably. DVD's that work today will not even be recognized tomorrow. I am at my wits end. A program that I was using earlier today that requires the disc be in the drive to operate is useless now, as the drive will not recognize that there is a CD in the drive. BUT...I can put in a known good DVD and it works just fine. God I hate this thing. Please help Bob Wiley

Cd player error

a stock day 1 03 honda headend radio and CD Player?

yes/no.? if not , post maker ,model number of unit, can look them all up. and even fix them.

try a new , real CD, from a store, called CDDA ,

like Hank Williams.

Does it play now. (yes, progress)

you never said what CD you have, there are vast types.

CDDA (all play)

CD-r few to none.

DVD none.

CR-RW, none.

mp3 , non

your CD came new with a book listing all valid formats

i bet you lost that,

the orig manuals said ., some CD-r play

and only burns (rips) from CDDA, to CDR.

never MP3 or DVD or with complex file structures

hell even new cars , fail with insane complex directory or file structures. (cept my home theatre, amp plays it all. but says it will and does, but back in dark ages of CD NO, not at aLL.)

some start to work and freeze half way but CDDA works always.

if not? the Drive is DOA> the parts are more that a new radio.

I have personally burnt every form, and complexity CD and DVD

and have tried i on many cars. (other home equipment)

today, I DONT, run USB flash , mp3 or wav.s.

CD/s are now relic tech, to me. life is too short of scratches and hang\'s, for me.

answer 2: real new hank disc , any real CDDA .

it gives and error.

that means, :

1: the driver is filthy head lens.

2: motor dont spin

3: optical sensor bad or piece of junk in the gap.

6: head motor stalled.

can do 20 more , but why , its dead and once cleaned still dead

the parts are too expensive and labor 10x that. why worry dead.

replace it. and upgrade (zero CD)

My laptop is at region 1 and i want to change it to region 2 i have 1 attempt left

To changethe Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware -Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVDdrive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have beenmade.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmwareto make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrongfirmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece ofsoftware (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region andPasskey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region. There areseveral available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From: -,free.htm

A couple of suggestions.
1) Download HP Support Assistant to check for updates on your machine
2) I assume you are using Windows Media Player. Try another free program like VLC. Its handy to have 2 installed so you can toggle between the 2 if one is having problems.

Dell latitude 630 dvd drive not responding

your drive is having problems reading the cd'/dvd's and is causing you computer to freeze, it may be a simple problem like the lens needs cleaning or you may need a new drive. If you open up the tray of the drive and have a look at the lens(may need a magnify glass for this) it may have some dust on it or maybe is scratched. you can use a cd cleaning disk or a cotton bud and some IPA isopropyl alcohol. If problem persist after cleaning you will need a new drive.

Game will not install at all

You can try to not double click on your dvd drive, because when you double click, your computer tries to run "autorun", you should browse your files from explorer and try to do one click to your dvd or cd drive, than run your setup exe, if its still freezing, try that cd or dvd at another computer, if it acts same, you can be sure your game dvd is broken. Go to your seller.

I would suggest trying WinDVD and see if that works. If so, then yes, it would be a decoder issue.

CDs means totally nothing. sorry....
what CD? , a CD-R? CD-RW, or a store bought CDDA disk
all 3 are different. (or DVD? of vast types too...)
my guess you meant CD-R. (CD record-able)
TouchSmart IQ770 PC Desktop? 2007 carbon date?

what OS, XP, VISTA or W7?

My guess its bad media or bad CD drive.
only way to prove that is use new CD-R burned on good system slow.
say using the great free utility called, imgburn.

first try a real disk, from a store, from the Music section
called CD-DA disk, play it , if it plays the CD drive might be ok.
then try what I call rubber disks, recordable. CD-R
using pro grade disk burned correctly.
buying the cheapest media can be a nightmare. here.

tell HP your OS
the as an example (i guessed OS, means operating system)
install this up date, called HP HP Personal and Pocket Media Drive Driver Update
