You will have to connect the netgear through a cat5 cable. Connect to the back of the pc and into one of the for same ports on the back of the netgear. Once you have done this open internet explorer and type in the address bar 192.168.0.1 that is the default ip code for that kind of router. once asked for the username and password type he following

Username : Admin
Password : password

Once in there goto basic settings and fill in all the information that you need.

If 192.168.0.1 doesn't work there is a little whole on the back of the router using a paper clip insert and press the button. This will reset the router back to defaults. You can download the manual from www.netgear.co.uk

Thanks J

Ya this is some what correct. You might be lacking on some system network setting. Just you have to do is make sharing of your network without any complecated authorised or password sharing. Thats it.

I have received a netgear Dg834g v5 with no instructions, so I am trying to download a instruction manual any advice would be helpful

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

I dont know how to connect a netgear DG834G

No software needed for Mac or PC. You do need an ASDL account name and password.
Your ISP should provide you with this info.

Connect with an ethernet cable any port on the unit to your computer network socket.

fire up a web browser and use the url:

http://192.168.0.1

This gives you the login screen.

use
admin

as the login name and

password

as the password. If unit is second hand then reset to factory defaults by using a paper clip in the reset point on the rear of the unit (between the 4 ethernet ports and the asdl port)

You are then able to set up the router.

exact usermanual depends on which model version you have. (see label on base)

see this page and choose your exact model for full manual.

Netgear DG834G v3 Installation

connect the yellow (or blue?) ethernet cable to your computer, this should connect to the router (router should be ON)

Now, in internet explorer type 192.168.0.1 (this should be the defualt gateway for the router on default settings.

Now you're into the router, there should be a setup wizard button in there.

See if you can set it up using that
