    I moved to a new computer using Vista, and neither my Dimage or my HP flatbed will work with the vista. HP told me to use it for a doorstop, but I am still looking for a driver for the Dimage.

1) Install the Konica Minolta XP software in Vista/Windows 7.
2) Plug in your DImage Scanner into a USB port and turn it on with the door closed. It will detect and install the original Konica Minolta Driver.
3) Create an empty folder on you harddrive (for instance go to my computer, double click on the c: drive, then right click and create a new folder named newminolta).
4) Open windows notepad and copy the following into it:

; scanners.inf -- Test Vista Minolta Film Drivers
;
;
; To remove this driver and install the original
; manufacturer's driver, go into Device Manager,
; open Imaging devices, then click on the scanner name
; with the right mouse button and choose Uninstall.

    I have windows 7 x64 bit OS. I tried this and got thru it all thru item 13, but I get the message "the folder you specified doesn't contain compatible software driver for your device. make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64 based systems"

    I am hooking up scanner to my computer via the IEEE 1394 cable (and not USB). Is that causing my problem?

Forget about the Minolta software, there is no version for Vista and Minolta is out of business. Use VueScan instead. A free trial is available so you can test it before you commit to buying it. Available for Windows Vista.

I have Windows Vista and cannot find the software on my computer to run my Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II scanner. How do I use it with my computer? Thank you Jane Young

Hi ,

Could be because there are no drivers running under Windows Seven for this unit.
If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD ( http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 )
You could also partition your HDD ( http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one .

Konica Minolta Dimage scan dual film scanner will not connect to windows 7

Copy this into a text file named "sonyscanners.inf" and then manually point to it as the correct driver in device manager for your scanner and it'll all work like magic again. Forget using a virtual machine...not needed. I use this for both the Dimage IV and 5400 Elite in Windows 7 64-Bit.

Dimage Scan Dual IV is it compatable with Windows 7 32 bit?

Right now, the Konica-Minolta site lists the scanner as discontinued and has no drivers for Windows versions later than XP. The Microsoft Compatibility site lists it as "Information Coming Soon" You can try the generic driver that Windows will try to install (check if you need TWAIN or WIA drivers) or download the current driver and try installing it with XP SP3 compatability mode (right click on the file, select Properties, then the compatability tab.

If those fail, there is another option in Win7 Pro or Ultimate. Download and install the XP mode from Microsoft (2 downloads/installs). Then install the scanner inside the virtual computer running XP that results. You may need to save images to external media to share them between the two computers.

I hope this helps.
