I have a sony handycam DCR-HC26. After loading in the DV cassette tape and the tape cannot get loaded in and therefore I can't close the tape door. Please help.

For some reason old or used cassettes get tight. i had same problem, bought new mini dv cassettes problem solved

It should be the first screen you see when you turn it on, if it has not been set. This is an old camera, so the internal rechargeable battery that saves this info may be dead.

My driver door won't close on my Sony Handycam 20x

Try this, it worked for my Sony handycam:

HERE'S WHAT WORKED FOR ME PER SONY TECHS:
Take?»¿ OUT the battery or disconnect the AC cord.
Turn the camera ON (tape, memory, edit settings) for 15 seconds.
Turn camera to off setting.
Plug battery or AC cord back in.
VOILA!
Worked for me and I had the stupid C32:11 error code for weeks! Door would not close. Followed the SIMPLE and SAFE instructions and IT WORKED! Just like magic. I couldn't believe it! Save your money TRY THIS!

Type of unit:Sony Handycam (DCR-HC26)I have a couple...1)when trying to insert a DV cassette,the door will not shut.2)The buttons on the touch screen won't work either.

The most likely cause for the buttons not working is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. The tape mechanism is another story.

it's not exactly the same, but this website shows a pretty foolproof way on how to fix it on a different camera.

i fixed the touchscreen on my hc26 with it on the first try. i put a piece of paper folded a couple times under the ribbon cable connections where it meets the screen (against the plastic frame for the screen, under the blue cable), and put a piece of cardboard against the circuit board to give it more pressure from that side. works like a charm!

Hi,
Remove battery/ power source from camcorder for minute, reattach battery/ power source and close the tape door.
If that does not solve problem then I'm afraid, tape mechanism got defective and will be replaced.
Let me know if you need tape mechanism part number info.

I have a Sony handycam DRC-HC26. After placing the DV tape the tape refuse to load into the tape compartment and as such the tape door cannot be closed. Please advise.

Hi,
The mechanical of tape loading compartment is misaligned and it needs readjustment which is a bit technical issue. Please contact any expert for mechanical adjustment of tape loading path assembly.

XP does'nt recognise Handycam

you will have to use the supplied software or just about any other video editing software to download the video to your pc. here is a link to a retail outlet for sony software.

Tape door wont close

I'm having a similar problem. The camera is a Sony DCR-TRV280. When you put a tape in the tray will not go down. However when the tray is empty and you push it shut it will go down. In other words the mechanism works fine without the tape but with the tape it doesn't. I hope the explanation is clear enough. Thanks
