Re: kenmore elite dishwasher, does not get the dishes wet
Sounds like wash motor is not going . it will fill and control thinks motor is working . then it will drain wash water / ( drain pump is a different motor ) and then refill and so on .. never washes but fills and drains and heats. ( look for leakage under the motor i'm sure you will find some ..

Pre-wash may be compromised and a new power circuit board may be needed.
My advice: As long as the other cycles are accurate and work as usual; Pre-wash in your sink (spray off waste material) before you place the dishes in the washer and commence cleaning. Its best to wash off food and other material before washing in the machine to avoid clogging the drains and pump.
not sure if you have a plastic arm that spins under or over the dishes, but mine did. I noticed that the holes where the water came through were plugged by calcium and food. I took a sewing needle and cleaned out the holes. It then sprayed water again. Hope this helps.
If you are talking about having a small amount of water down in the bottom of your dishwasher, that is normal. There is a sump down there that needs to have water in it. If you are talking about having water on the walls, that is probably just condensation from the cycle when you run the heater. Try cracking the door after the cycle is done to let the excess steam out of the dishwasher and that may eliminate the water on the walls. Hope this helps!
Yes , If the program controller has hung it would have skipped the drain cycle. So try to redo the cycle and see if the drain works, is not check the program controller and the drain valve/pump.- if there is food particles that have clogged and blocked.
Welcome to FixYa. Can you explain more details, are you implying the unit fills with water, that it has power on the panel and you can select a cycle and nothing happens ? Just need a little more info so i can be specific to your dishwasher.
Thanks for choosing FixYa. Please reply so we can move forward.
I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying... Dishwasher Spray Arms not Spinning
You need only enough space so the door does not rub when opened. If the unit is too far back under the cabinet the countertop (if wood) can be damaged by the exhausting moisture. The dry feature on the newer models is just as you describe. The moisture from the hotter dishes evaporates and is condensed on the cooler walls and door of the wash tub. Dry dishes wet tub is normal. Eric
Motor has gone out..just like mine...Make sure u have voltage going to the motor, (disconnect the plug from the motor) and use an electric meter to make sure you have voltage going to the motor. If so the motor has either gone out or has been blocked by something! If no noise except clicking then motor has gone out. Looking at about $150 for motor.
