Monitor moving on its own

For awhile my Compaq P1220 monitor has been 'twitching' and swallowing up the sides of my screen. It does not connect to the width of my computer well, and will resize/change its own settings without me using it. Is there any way to fix this?

On your physical monitor adjust the verticle and horizontal lengths to take up the full length of the screen. The CRT guns have to draw the exact location of your screen, so extending them to the edges will be easier on the guns. You can also try raising the refresh rate, although that probably wont fix it but it will help on your eyes. and if You have other options like convergence, focus, etc. Try messing with those.

page 6pdf.
tells me it does have vesa mode, sleep off the sync pins
on the same page this old relic, has DDC modes
but only work on moden PC< DDC uses a pin that was never used before on the VGA jack.
that same page also states, DDC2Bi (plug and play) only works on MONItgor jack B..

so note tell me your PC or its video card model if used.
or whaT this is (windows95.)>?'
we cant help much can we.
but you can test your monitor on another PC.
if that fails, the monitor is bad
but you must try both MON, rear VGA ports.

if the PC was dead, i sure can be.
youd have tried another barrowed monitor to prove that.
easy.

Dual monitor setup

Assuming you are using Windows Vista:

All you have to do is connect your laptop to a monitor via a VGA port (located on either the side or at the back of your laptop - it's the port with about 15 holes).

Once connected , you will need to configure how your 2nd monitor will function - as an extended or duplicate monitor. To set this you will need to go to Display Settings > and select your option.

Did you fix your Compaq 1220?

Any time you have a orange light . The monitor or video card can be at fault. First check the monitor. Turn it on and see if it goes from green to amber. Check all monitor cable connections. to make sure the all 15 pins are there . If monitor displays a message that check video signal most likely video card is the problem. Make sure you have the cable connection plugged in the back of the computer into the video card. Usually a picture of a monitor. Then afterwards turn the monitor on first then the computer. If you do the other way around then the video card most likely will not engage.

Compaq P1220

If that monitor is out of warranty, it's pretty much a throw away item. If you can find a "donor" monitor with a cracked CRT or case, you could probably swap the high voltage units and get it going again.

I suspect that when you reattached the monitor back you might have moved the agp card out of her slot. Check if you have connected properly your monitor to the pc And if the agp is in it's slot properly attached. Hope it helps, good luck!!
