Question about RCA H100 MP3 Player

1 Answer

RCA H100 Like so many others...when I turn it on, it makes a funny noise and only loads one bar. Then it gives me an error message..."FAT error plz connect UMS device format...then the screen comes on...there are "icons" but no words. I have tried dropping it, but it hasnt helped...any other suggestions?

This may sound stupid but, it worked. I dropped it from about two feet onto our kitchen floor and it turned on. I am sorry if it makes it worse... but what do you have to lose

Iriver H10 - DB Open Error

one idea...
connect player to your pc using the ums trick
What is the UMS trick on IRiver H10?http://www.zolved.com/synapse/view_content/5942/What_is_the_UMS_trick_on_IRiver_H10

This article tells you how to transfer music to your player The UMS trick is a great thing to know how to do. With it, you can transfer music, or treat your H10 as a harddrive to put anything you want on.
The UMS trick will also allow you to use your H10 with virtually any OS.
For 5/6 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Take out the battery, wait a second, and put the battery back in.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "UMS Mode" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
For 20 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Poke the "reset" button with a paperclip.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "Emergency Connection" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
For UMS Models UMS models do not need this trick because they are
always in UMS mode!

---download and run the free playlist maker called easyh10. It will read the music files on your h10, rebuild a playlist and save it to your player.

take out the two screws on the top and slide the face in a downward motion it will open it up,. if dropping it helps then most likely have loose connection to ur hard drive, open it up the bottom big square deal is the drive. use a tiny flathead to pry it up gently then pull the little black clips back that hold the wires in place. unplug it if its plugged in and carefully insert it back in and close the clips, re assemble and bam it should work unless ur hard drive is fried, THIS WILL FIX LOOSE CONNECTION TO DRIVE

RCA mp3 H106

Here's how you fix it for rca H106:

use the user maunal so you know what I'm talking about. I got the FAT error! Plz.. and I could still get the icons. This is how I fixed it. Go to settings and go to advanced press play once only. Plug into computer and it wil recognize it as a flash drive. Completely Format the drive then unplug the player from computer. It will switch back to previous setting automatically. If you need to update drivers and firmware use the auto updater from http://www.voxxsupport.com/images/downloads/autoupdater.exe
