Pasquini Livia 90 Espresso Machine Logo

I have a 6 year old Pasquini Livia 90 Automatic. I have replaced the Pressure Stat (4 years ago). Now the machine shuts down after warming up with all three touch pad indicator lights blinking. The pressure gauge is right at green/red line. I can restart (on/off toggle) and then the same sequence of events occurs. I can make espresso or keep flushing water thru the system, but when I stop it eventually shuts down. Do I need to adjust something? Assistance appreciated. Also, due to the age of my machine, should I perform some maintenance? O-rings, gaskets, etc. Also, how do I remove the strainer (red) from the bottom of the plastic reservoir?

Bansheracer - Thanks for the help.

Last night I did adjust the PSTAT screw and (amazingly) have achieved the setting you recommended. This did not have any affect on the shut down issue - it just shuts down at a lower pressure! I will be going out now to do the probe cleaning and will let you know the outcome.

By the way I have done a bit more troubleshooting. When starting the machine from completely cold, shut down will occur after about 2 minutes with relatively little temperature and pressure increase as indicated by the gauge. When I immediately restart, it comes up to temp/pressure and will eventually shut down (on the order of minutes). following shut down, all three touch pad indicator lights are blinking. As long as I keep water periodically flowing thru the system - flushing, back-flushing, or making espresso (my favorite, by the way) - it does not shut down. In the meantime - I will do a bit of probing ;-).

Actually the problem could be from a few problems. I need to know if the lights are blinking once every second, or twice every second. Once every second means a resovouir problem such as type of water being used, calcium build up, or a loose nut & bolt. Twice every second indicates a boiler problem resulting from the copper feed pipe is not filling properly. Lastly it could be your CPU. Do you still repair these machines?

I just had Tyler do a repair for me. He is great to work with, and quick to turn it around. If you need to ship the whole machine to him, Pasquini will make a foamed shipping box specifically for the machine you have.

Hi
there are a couple things you might try. There is a screw in the top of the pressurestat. Turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the pressure.
The light should go off just before the 11:30 position on the gauge.

There are 2 probes on top of the boiler that needs cleaning every so often. A yellow and a green wire connect to the top of the probes. Loosen the small nut about 2 turns or all the way out.
Then pull on the probes to remove then. Sometimes it comes out with the white seal. that is OK. Clean the bottom of the probes and then reinstall.
Yellow goes on the left and green on the right.

    Hi
If it is shutting down with little heat, check you vacuum breaker on the top front of the boiler. This lets air in when the machine cools down. If it sticks, then it traps pressure and when it first starts to heat it will build enough pressure to shut off the pressure stat, and heat no more until the pressure drops. If you open the steam valve and relieve pressure it should heat normally. more than likely you vacuum breaker needs cleaning or replacement.

I have an older Pasquini Livia purchased in the early 90s. It continues to heat up and then the relief valve goes off. Is there a thermostat to replace?

Yes, remove the top panel on the right side is a p. stat with a microswitch on top, either that has to be replaced or the tube is blocked and it cannot read the steam pressure.

Pasquini livia 90 will power up for only few seconds and then shut down you know what iy maybe?

Try this open the steam valve when turning the machine on, if that works then the vent valve needs to be replaced, or the p.stat is damaged.

Pasquini Livia 90: heats up for about 5 minutes, then shuts off

Sounds like the pressure switch is not working properly and the safety is turning the machine off. Try checking the tube from the boiler to the pressure switch that might be blocked, if not then the pressure switch needs to be replaced.

After several failures, I replaced the pressure stat on my Pasquini Livia 90, only to find that the water would not heat. I put back the old stat, but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help?

Hi
Check the wire on the water reservoir to make sure that it is properly connected.
Check to make sure the wire connection is clean and making good contact.
If the machine turns on the connection is dirty, so you will need to remove nut and clean.
There is a level probe on top of the boiler (actually 2) The right one (yellow wire) is the low level probe and it will not let the boiler turn on unless it sences water at the probe. If it is scaled it can't tell if there is water in the boiler and the element will not heat. Remove and clean the probe.

I have a six plus year old Livia 90 Semi Automatic. It builds up pressure and then releases through the release valve, sometimes every 10 minutes, sometimes not for a couple of hours. Always quite a...

This is a simple fix. This has been fixed on newer units with a rewire kit. This rewire kit is for Pasquini Livia 90’s with serial numbers PRIOR to #49000. We have them listed on our website Part# 90000 for $30.00.
You can contact me for this part - If you are local we could install it for you. If you do not fix this problem soon, you will need a new pressure release valve. It would also be advised you get a microswitch #7633905 for $13 at same time as the rewire kit. If you still require a manual we could provide you with a digital version.

Pasquini Livia 90 cutting out

Sounds like your transformer inside the CPU is overheating and putting your machine into safety mode/shutting down. Or, the reservoir is not making its proper connection - please be sure it is seated properly and making its connection. Contact me, I can walk you thru removing the CPU if that is the problem. I can repair and return the CPU to you within a couple days.

Our Livia 90 would need a service + the pressure steam valve is leaking. Thanks in advance ! Thilo

If you are local to us perhaps in Orange County, CA we can provide service. If not you may contact Pasquini to get a local certified repair location near you.

As far as the pressure steam valve goes, you most likely simply need a new o-ring kit... we offer kits for new and older units. Older machines would use Part# KSWV-2 for $5.40, newer units would use Part# KSWV-2 for $4.30. I could explain how you could do this service yourself.

Pasquini. Livia 90 intermittently building up too much pressure

The part that will solve your problem is an upgraded heating rewire kit which will control pressure electronically, not manually. The rewire kit is Part #90000, $28

You may also need a new micro switch which is connected to your PStat with the rewire kit. The micro switch part #7633905, $13

These parts are in stock. I can send you these parts and instructions to install these parts in your machine.

Tooo much pressure

If you remove the top panel on the machine there is a pressure stat on the right side, with 2 wire connections going to it. That P.stat could be damaged and needs to be replaced, or the pipe to the P.stat is clogged and it cannot read the boiler pressure.
