Printer malfunction I HAVE A LEXMARK X5150 PRINTER / SCANNER. PROBLEM, IF I HAVE A E-MAIL MESSAGE THAT I WANT TO PRINT OUT AND KEEP, IT WILL PRINT EVERYTHING ON THE PAGE BUT THE MESSAGE ITSELF. WHERE THE MESSAGE SHOULD BE, IT JUST LEAVES A BLANK SPOT. IT DOES NOT SHOW ANY ERRORS.

You know another problem might be that the email was printed with a black background and white letters.

I would copy the whole text portion of the email into a WORD DOCUMENT. Try not to carry over any pictures or anything on the sides of your screen, just the text. Then, if the text was in white, you will still see nothing in your word document, but now use select all (which will highlight all the text in the word document and then change the font color. Hopefully you can then print the email out. YOu might be missing the from-to information, which I believe you should be able to copy. Else just forward the email to yourself and edit it as you need.

2 possible soultions,

1. The color required to print the text ( ie: black or a variation of ) may have run out and needs to be refilled or replaced.

2. The other way that could help, is to select only the text you wish to print, by highlighting the entire text of the email, and then press and hold Ctrl while you press P to bring up printing shortcut menu and then check the "Print selected only" before attempting to print.

This should give you only the selected text, but if your black or the color required to print is empty, it may appear blank on the page, or show a low ink error.

Cartridge Error message on our Lexmark X5150

The Lexmark machines are designed to kick out anything it suspects may be refilled. If your old cartridge has bad print nozzles this may be tripping the error. Printers are typically for sensitive with their color cartridges anyway because the manufacturers make more money on the color ones. You can try looking around the settings on the machine and in the printer preferences to see if you can tell it to ignore the ink levels and see if you can continue to print.
