Need GPRS/MediaNet configuration for unlocked Nokia 2730

Nokia 2730 is a 3G phone, a new model available in Europe and Asia. AT&T won't help me configure it so it could go on the web --- they said I need GPRS configuration (Nokia said AT&T can send it to me, but AT&T said they can't). The closest I got is to Personal Configuration Setting... but all the phone has is GSM data, and Packet Data. Any advice?

thanks philipk... but "interrogating AT&T" is the hard part. They are all sales people there! None have shown incentives to help. GPRS settings I've found on AT&T are not that similar to 2730...

GSM data is up to 9600bps. GPRS is Packet Data. If you select the Packet Data configuration it should be able to auto configure by interrogating AT&T. If not try at&t's website for a similarish model and find the GPRS settings from there.

How to Activate GPRS in Samsung Mobile GT-M 5650 3G with idea connection. I am finding only 2 bearer types only 1) UMTS 2) WIFI GPRS is not to be seen in the list.... Is there any software to activate it...

The Samsung M5650 Lindy is GPRS, EDGE, AND 3G enabled. It should connect automatically to GPRS when it's available. (Unless you are trying to tether a PC to the internet with the phone then, it may be locked out by default.)

In the United States, Cingular Wireless is one of our cellular service providers. In order to access Cingular's 3G network, MediaNet must be used for data packet service.

On 3G phones like the new Samsung Jack the MediaNet network is not an available option when tethering a PC to the internet.

In order for Cingular's 3G phone owners to tether on the 3G network, the phone must have it's 'Internet Sharing' program unlocked. Only then can the option to use MediaNet in the Network Connections box be shown on the screen.

There is a website which explains in detail how to unlock 'Network Connections' in the 'Internet Sharing' program on the Samsung Jack 3G. You may find useful information in the site. Click here: http://tether-unlock-i637.webs.com/

How to foemat nokia 3220

Hi,

There are no format codes available for S40 phones. The only thing you can do yourself is to update the firmware. However if this option is not available to you then your only remaining option is to remove the battery and leave it out for 5 to 10 minutes.

Other than that, we can only suggest you send it to your local Nokia Care Point.

You can find your nearest Nokia Care Point at:

For UK
http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4228006
For Europe:
http://europe.nokia.com/A4388379
For Asia-Pacific
http://www.nokia-asia.com/A4416070
Elsewhere:
http://www.nokia.com select your country, go to the support section, then select repair

Hope this helps....

What is PACKet data? steps to connect my phone to to web service

Answer: General Packet Radio Service is used mostly in Europe and Asia. GPRS is used most commonly for cell phones. In Canada, Rogers and Fido are using GPRS.
You can send and receive emails using GPRS and browse the Internet.
General Packet Radio Service is a radio technology for GSM networks that adds packet-switching protocols, shorter set-up time for ISP connections, it also offers the possibility to charge by amount of data sent rather than connect time.
It is a new nonvoice value added service that allows information to be sent and received across a mobile telephone network. GPRS is NOT related to GPS (Global Positioning System), a similar acronym that is often used in mobile contexts. Allowing information to be transmitted more quickly, immediately and efficiently across the mobile network, GPRS may well be a relatively less costly mobile data service.
GPRS can provide instant connections subject to radio coverage. No dial-up modem connection is necessary.
