1.to switch the device to recovery mode turn the hold switch to the locked position. hold in the record button and plug the device in. do not let go of the record button ubtill you see a 16MB partition show up

2.when you got the 16 partition copy a new main image file into it

AMERICAS - 01.02.23a for Americas

EUROPE (No FM) - 01.02.23e for Europe without FM

EUROPE (FM) - 01.02.23f for Europe with FM

PACIFIC - 01.02.23p for Pacific

Sansa 260 R load main image failed message

Hello,

The Sansa e260 Rhapsody could be recovered by resetting the player.
How to reset the player :
1. Player switched on.
2. Press and hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds.
3. Put the player back on.

When the fault is not resolved a firmware update / reinstallation needs to be made. There are 2 steps needed for getting new firmware on the player.

Step 1: switching the player into recovery mode / MSC mode

1. Turn off the player.
2. Slide the Hold/Lock switch on top of the player so an orange color is showing.
3. Press and hold the REC button and connect the device to the computer.
4. A message will appear on the device display screen confirming the connection and a memory partition will be viewable in My Computer.
5. Release the REC button.
Step 2: Update the firmware ( updating firmware always in MSC mode, see Step 1 )
Use next link for updating the firmware:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306
The Sansa updater installation on the computer should be the easiest way to update firmware.

Sansa 260 4GB

Will Windows read it as a flash drive?
If so, find a file recovery program like undelete or something, use it to restore your files, then turn on the sansa, then select format( if it is a view) and it will delete all your songs

Load main image failed switch to recovery mode is on my screen and it is black I cant get it to do anything how do you reset it or switch to recovery mode?

(( Switch your Sansa E260 to its Recovery Mode: 1. Make sure the player is powered off 2. Enable the "Hold" switch (located on the top of the player). You would know it's enabled when you see the "orange-colored" surface 3. Press the "Record" button. Make sure you keep it pressed while pressing on the "Menu" button. 4. keep your fingers pressed on these 2 buttons until the E260 LCD screen displays "Welcome to Recovery Mode" 5. Connect your E260 to your computer. (Just a reminder: The minimum Operating System requirements for a Sansa E200 player is Windows XP and above) 6. Double-click on "My Computer" and you would see your Sansa E260 appear as a "16 MB" drive. Note: If you do not see that "16 MB" drive/partition, please repeat steps 1-6. Next, Apply the firmware for the E260 (your player should be connected to your PC at this time): Step 1: Use this link to download the firmware for your Sansa E260 (for better results, please save this file on your "Desktop": http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downl... Step 2: Double left-click on the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen prompts. The file will automatically re-flash your player and format it as well, thereby clearing all possible file/system corruptions that may have occurred. )) When i get to step two, and did what it told me, i get this ( Application failed to read the version details ) What should i do?!?!?!?!
