Watch Band Loop Missing

I have a Timex 30 Lap Indiglo Ironman Triathalon watch. The watch band is fine, but the loop that you slip the end into after you buckle it is broken. Does anyone have an idea where I could get a rubberband or electronics belt (prefeably black) that would be the right size to hold the watchband in place. I tried fashioning a paperclip, but that proved to be uncomfortable. I really don't want to buy a new band just because this loop is missing, but the flapping end is driving me crazy. Thanks.

I've been searching for hours (and days) to find a similar item of my oakley D1 watch. I've tried glueing it but superglue doens't hold up for long. The most frustrating part is I dont know what the darned thing is even called so I dont know where to start looking.

I'm in the same predicament with my watch - the little loopy thing is broken. Has anyone found a solution?

Same problem, I now have 3 timex ironman trathalons with good bands but no loops. Called Timex but they want me to buy new bands, which is a waste of time because I tend to break the loop continually (for some reason). Sick of using brocolli elastic bands and wire ties. Anyone found out where to get these things

I'm in the same position. I've figured out that the part is called a 'keeper'. This is a good search to start with:

Wow! I have the same problem and thought this was too small a problem to ever possibly have the right solution: replace the loop not the band. (Timex has to get them from somewhere; it's possible but I doubt they make them themselves.) Yet, here it is. This site,, and the Web are great!

I called Timex direct and they sent the exact same keeper that came with the watch for $3.25.

How does one remove the delicate pin to release the watch bank buckle to then place the keeper on the band, and then then use the same pin to "reinstall" the band buckle -- all without bending the fragile pin?

The part is called a 'keeper'. You can start with a Google search for 'watch band keeper'.

Pins keep popping out when watch band gets snagged. What size are the pins for watch band?

mcdevito75 here, These pins may be a bit worn in the band of your watch, if so, you"d have to order a kit with various size pins for replacement. BEST BET, look for a small watch repair shop to fit new pins in the band.

What I would love is for an EXPERT to solve a very small problem that exist with every Lap - Ironman style watch I have ever owned over the past 20 years. There is no exception!!! After about 1 to 1-1/2...

This is a common problem with all watches with rubber or leather straps, not just with Ironman. In fact, there isn't anything our experts can do, as the responsibility is entirely on watch band producers. We just can hope that when the nano technologies will develop to the higher level, there will be a possibility to produce brand new materials yet unknown to human. These materials will have no wear and tear at all and everyone will be happy with forever lasting bands, shoes, e.t.c. For a while we can only wait. By the way - if you will buy Casio, it will make no difference, as all watch straps are made by using same technologies and chemical formulae. One of my friends went very upset for the same reason as you, so, I did find a solution for him using piece of scrapped copper pipe. This is how you do that: Measure that small loop of your watch band and find or buy the piece of copper pipe of same size. Cut off 1cm piece of the pipe and file off any imperfections, then polish it if needed. Get an old leather belt, fold it into half and put the copper ring in between, then flatten it with hammer. Do it step by step, always checking that there is enough space for band and band end to go through the newly formed copper loop. When flattened enough, spray the loop with band matching paint and leave to dry. Respray if necessary. Now you are done and this loop will last very long time.
