Question about Toshiba Equium 100 PC Desktop

My toshiba equium laptop keeps randomly turning itself off - this could be after 5 mins or after 60 mins, but could be fine for a couple of days!!!

Hi:
your symptoms point towards a intermittent cooling problem...You might need to remove your cpu cooling fan, clean it up, and re install it, with new thermal paste. Make sure all fans in your computer are working as they should, including the power supply fan too.

My Equium A200-1V0 fan stopped working

Hi, just thought I'd let you know that when I got my Toshiba Equium 200-1V0 it was supplied with the User's Manual A210 Series. The manual is just basic and does not go into full depth of how to clean out heat sink etc. The problem you described regarding the shutting down is most probably that the heat sink is clogged up with dust and needs to be cleaned. Toshiba has a lot of laptops (different models) with this problem. I had the same problem with Toshiba A200-1V0 and have now got the same problem with the Toshiba A300D-20R which is only 6 months old! On the A200-1V0 I managed to hoover the bottom of the laptop where the fan is and it worked fine, but with the A300D-20R it has not worked, but fortunately it's still under guarantee so I will be sending it back to Toshiba to do it.
