Spinning cycle

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

Please describe a typical washing cycle to me on the RTW4440XQ Roper 3.1 Cu. Ft. Top-Load Washer, please.

The typical cycle is;
fills to selected water level
agitates wash cycle
drains wash water
spins wash cycle
fills to selected water level on rinse cycle
agitates on rinse cycle
drains rinse water
spins final time
end of cycle

Does washer drain before the spin cycle starts?

Normally yes. There are around 12 to 20 gallons of water in the tub after the wash cycle, which will be anywhere from 63 to 110 pounds of weight in addition to the weight of the clothes. For the machine to start the spin cycle to remove this water would place a heavy load on the motor, gearcase, pullys, belts, gears, ect. With the water drained, the load is lighter, and much easier to start spinning the excess water out of the clothes. The normal cycles are: Fill, Agitate, Drain, Spin, Rinse Fill, Agitate for rinse, Drain, Spin Cycle and off. Imagine trying to spin a 5 gallon bucket of water over your head, full of water, and then empty. Which one do you think would be easier to do? And safer for you.

GE Top Load Washing Machine -- Agitator will not cycle

Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.

I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.

Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.

Avanti 798SS: Unbalanced spin, tears itself apart. The top ring assembly XQB550.3.2 Balance Ring and outer tub have worn holes in each other, creating shards that further damage them during spin. Questions: 1. Is this a common situation with Avanti? The machine dates back to 2010. Will the newer model have the same problem? 2. Should the Balance Ring be perfectly balanced? The patch area is still hollow, but surfaced with epoxy, and that side of the ring is about 6 oz heavier than the other side resting on using a kitchen scale. 3. There is a permanently sealed plug on the top of the balance ring. What is its purpose? I pried/broke it off for inspection inside. All I can figure is that it is part of the plastic molding process wax removal?, or is where a liquid or sand was injected for balance, which escaped when the ring wore a hole in itself. 4. From another answer here, I gather that the ring should be filled with fluid and resealed. If so, how far to fill? Halfway? Filling completely would seem to defeat the purpose of a stabilizing fluid. 5. The repair manual says that the tubs can be removed after removing the 36mm center nut, which I have done. But there seems to be another nut that the large nut screws onto, and that additional nut needs to be removed. In fact, it has four flat sides, suggesting that it should be, but it won't budge. The top nut was almost impossible to remove, but after a good overnight soak with penetrating oil and WD-40, it finally gave way. Now it come off and torques down like butter. I can keep trying this lower nut, but first need to know if it actually needs removal. I've been able to remove the Balance Ring by accessing the screws through a small hole made in the outer tub which I then plug, so I don't really need to remove the tubs except for inspection. Insights anyone?
