Question about Technical Hifi Audio Players & Recorders

I brought a AWN20624 (CSH E248294) dual cd player bran new and now my right drive door does not open. tigga.

    Basically, I open the unit because there is no movement with the motors. Can I just puschase a new tray with motor and ribbon cables and replaced it myself.

If it is brand new then it is still under warranty and they should replace the defective player for free. I would take it or send it back to where you bought it and get a new replacement. If you take it apart to try and make repairs then you will void the warranty. Could be a broken tray drive belt or a defective tray motor. Or possibly a bad open/close button on the panel.

    And it is not very likely you could just purchase certain parts for the player(you would need to contact the manufacturer). And if you could purchase them they might cost as much as a new unit. Repairing a player such as this is not cost effective in today's times.

Hi Tigga.

Try the following:

Unplug power cord.
Wait two minutes and plug power cord back.
Press on button and try repeatedly clicking the open try button while the unit is starting. If you succeed ejecting the tray before the lens attempt to read, sometimes you may unlock the tray.

If that does not work, the unit must be taken apart, removing the upper cover to access the drive mechanism and find the fault.

Since the player is new, the best thing to do in that case is contacting the seller or ringing the manufacturer at the number listed on manual to have the CD replaced.

    Hi.

    If the tray motor is not running at all, then the tray motor is defective, or there is a problem on the circuits energizing the tray motor.
    The motor is tested energizing it directly.

    Technical Electronics schematics are not available , therefore parts can only be purchased from manufacturer.

    Part number may be written on top of motor.

    In some case motor is not the only part affected, for this reason you replace the whole optical drive.

    In simple world, you have a new unit with a $150/$200 repair in there, and you really should have it replaced under factory warranty.

    If you have not touched anything inside the unit and you have not damaged the unit, then put it back together and call manufacturer.

Sounds like belts are slipping under tray. They can be cleaned or replaced or new ones of course.

Both doors? When you press switch (eject) does display change? I doubt you have 2 defective eject switches. Its more likely you need to replace both CD drives, this is quite common.

The dvd door fail to open
To open this drive you can open My Computer and right click your DVD drive and select eject. You can also open any CD/DVD drive by taking a paper clip (or something the size of one) and inserting it inside the tiny pinhole near the eject button on the drive.

I have several NUMARK CDN88 dual cd players with door opening issues. One player set the doors open and close too fast and dislodges the discs. On the other I have to power the unit up and down several...
Going through this problem myself. I've diagnosed that the drive (motor) unit should separate from a magnetic disc that sandwiches the CD between it and the motor. For some reason the mechanism isn't powerful enough to pull it away when the drawer wants to open, so it sticks. It seems to be a mechanical, rather than and electronic issue. I'm looking at replacing both drives rather than a fix, for reliability issues. I've got a number of CDN models and it's only the CDN88 that has this issue !

Right on the drive you will find a small hole, take a pin and press it a little bit, it will open up the DVD tray for you. Sometimes the drives are just locked by some software, this is the best way to release your stuck cd or dvd.

I turn on my cdn36.......
There are switches that detect the door opening and closing, those switches need to be cleaned or replaced. That is really all that will cause this type of problem.
