Jenn Aire side by side, freezer and refridgerator stopped working. Both side warm. Fan is blowing. Replaced PTC Overload/Relay. Still not cooling. Guessing it's the compressor. I hear clicking but the compressor does not seam to start. I am considering try to change the compressor myself. Part is expensive and would hate to take that on if it's not the compressor.
Any suggestion?
If you hear it trying to come on, (the lights may even dim more than normal) followed by a "tink" noise, it's the compressor.

I hear the "tink" noise. Any tips on replacing the compressor. I have the service manual for the unit.
It turned out that this was the second compressor that had failed to start in this model refrigerator. The original was replaced two years prior. The answer was to install an after market "Hard Start Capacitor." The fridge has been working without fail for more than seven years now. Here is a sample video I found that discusses the procedure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-47kVjzu...
