Powe Supply Problem Compaq

Hi I have a problem and i hope you answer my question. I have a Compaq Presario pentium III model187498-001(older), processor Intel and the power supply is damage must to be replaced. The power suppy has 250 Watts and i not sure if a new one power supply of 450 or 5000 wats is ok for my computer because nowdays is very complicated to find out a power supply of 250 watts. Thank you so much.

    Thanks again. I replace the power supply damaged with a new one of 450 Watts and worked.

    I have 5 compaq motherboards 187498-001 standard power supplys don't work.... I tried a compaq 161071-001 and 176764-001 and 103748-001 none words.....a regular power supply will boot the board but several things won't work on it like the eithernet and the power button....do you have the pinout for the power supply to fit this motherboard. thanks Oscar

    This compaq mobo has 4 more pins on the power supply connector than a regular ATX. What do I need to connect to those extra 4?

I did some research and the powersupply for that machine is a standard ATX powersupply, so yes just about any off the shelf power supply will fit and work. They may be overkill but that's fine.

That's an old mainboard (Motherboard), used in a Compaq Presario 5716 desktop computer. (And perhaps a few other Compaq Presario's)

1) Uses a Slot 1 (Intel) processor slot.

Maximum frequency rate for the processor is 700MHz.

I would like to know my motherboards name,model, and are there any upgradeable processors for it? Type is a Compaq 5008US
It's Intel® Desktop Board CA810E and the only processors to which you could upgrade to are second generation Pentium III Coppermine, up to 1.2GHz, that you will find only at auction sites - out of production since 2001. Practically it's an antiquity, not worth upgrading.

I forgot the password for my desktop computer compaq pentium 3
Hi, try pressing the ESC button or Del in some machines; do this during bootup and you can select start in safe mode. From here you can go to control panel and reset your password.
