It's probably "hidden" -- look for one or two small slots around the edge of the LCD screen, or in the corners of the case -- somewhere near the keyboard.

Go to control panel, click on the audio icon. a dialog box will open, look for the microphone and speaker settings on one of the tabs. Normally the microphone is checked, if it is not, checked it and click apply. If it is still not working, go to the properties and of the microphone and activate it from there.
The speakers of your G550 are located on the front edge of the palmrest and sound more than adequate for playing music or watching streaming video. We have to note the system's versatility in terms of usage, but it's a downside that it does not have a microphone.

Damn Rocketfish ******* sucks. Got their external USB drive.. it died after the 3rd time i plugged it in to use. Their USB desktop mic, can't find any drivers for windows 7. Can't find **** on their website. If no special drivers, thats fine, but say so. Trying to use it on Lenovo T500 and T61.
I had the same issue with my G530. I have boosted the microphone to maximum from Control Panel - Sound - Recording - Level. It helped. You may try it too.
Here's the audio specs of your lenovo n200: intel high deifnition audio, realtek ALC861CD codec/stereo speakers, 1.5 watt/volume, up, down, mute button/ stereo microphone, microphone input jack (3.5mm) and heaphone jack (3.5 mm)
although your n200 has a stereo speakers the voice quality is not that good, it would be better to use an external microphone
