Bad Oder My unit has a bad oder when doors are opened .Freezer and refrig have been cleaned but oder is still there.

Roll up your sleeves and do the mother of all cleaning jobs. Use chlorox bleach all over and rinse. Then clean all with sudsy ammonia. Leave nothing untouched. Check under the gaskets, everything and clean thoroughly..

fill with baking soad an put in the freezer. moisture will be absorbed and oder causing bacteria killed. if smell persists consider putting insoles in the washer. allow to air dry

if the freezer and fridge are warm check the start device on the compressor,alot of times you can smell a burning oder when this pops,also you can remove it and shake it,if you hear pieces rattling around then it's bad,also if there's ice on the back inside wall of the freezer then you have a defrost problem,also when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing,if not you could have a bad defrost fan motor,open the fridge door,up near the ceiling on the right side you'll see the model number,send it to me,let me know if you found ice or frost on the back wall of the freezer or what you see and i'll be glad to help you

A/C system may need to be cleaned.

install a add on water filter and do replace the org one inside at same time . these odors come from the water and it needs to be filtered . other oders come from un covered food and meats n freezer that are not cold enough . freezer tempt need s to be around 0 to 5 deg . .. hope this hepls mm ..

ok.its a very common issue.just tie a handful of baking soda in a soft cloth and keep such1 or 2 pads in both the freezer and fridge section.this will absorb all the bad odor within a day or two.once the odor is gone throw the pas away.repeat this once in three months to prevent the bad odor from coming again.

their is a cleaning kit called affresh available at most lowes stores in the appliance department that if u follow the directions will help alleviate the problem. these units r sealed sysems and after u shut the door they do not breath, it would be like never cleaning your shower after using it and just shutting the door. follow the directions and make sure u repeat it about once a month. it might take two or three tries the first time to knock odour down, but it will come back without regular maint.

You have what they call dirty sock oder. You need to clean the coil. Use bleach 50-50 mix and spay the coil let it set a few minutes and spray water on it to rinse. Russ

You are going to have to take the back cover off and investigate. Check the defrost drain pan first. If anything from the freezer, like raw meat juice, went down the defrost drain, it would end up in the defrost drain pan, usually located very near, possibly on both sides of, the fan motor at the bottom of the refrigerator. The next thing to look for is a dead mouse. They like the warmth from the refrig., and can get killed from a fan blade, electrocution, or if they ingested poison, that makes them thirsty and the warmth plus the availability of the water from the defrost drain makes an ideal place for the to curl up and die. (A dead mouse usually dehydrates and stops smelling after a few days.) All that sounds like lots of fun, right? Happy hunting and good luck.

On newer other machines, there is a cleanout cycle that uses 2/3 cup of bleach, no detergent and I believe uses more water. Suggest you use a load of white towels, no detergent, the bleach and put it through a normal or soak cycle where the bleach has a chance to kill off the germs and other bacteria, then rinses itself clean. They also recommend that the door be left open on these machines to allow the moisture to clear and dry assisting in curtailing further development of the same. The cleanout procedure they present is suggested for monthly using their special cycle which doesn't exist on my HE3T either. Hope this helps some. NOTE: There are cautions about leaving the high level of concentrations in the washer for extended periods or too often.
