I used the TV remote to change channels instead of using the new SAT remote and now I can't get the tv to work...all I see is fuzz. I followed instructions from handbook to "recover" etc...still no success. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

More info needed... if it is the tv 1 and you have a coax cable (screw on cable) the tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4 if you have it connected with rca cables (red, white, yellow) the tv will need to be on input (tv/video, input, video, source, on your tv remote) if it is a high def receiver and tv it will need to be on the input hdmi or component (component= y/pb/pr (green, blue, red)) if it is the tv2 (if the sat remote has a blue 2 at the bottom) the tv will need to be on channel 60 or 73 if your still getting snow check the cable connections and or replace the cable and make sure you have the green light lit on the front of the receiver box.

This happens to our Sanyo TV and RCA converter box if I forget and use the RCA remote and use the Sanyo remote. I point the Sanyo remote to TV and our code is channel 4 but I have to push "O4" This might help someone.

My dog stepped on my remote and now my tv is set at 480 for all channels instead of the 720 like it use to be. My channels are not sharp anymore. How can I fix this

This may have been changed by pressing a button on the TV remote or more likely to be a button on the remote (or device itself) of the a Sat TV, Cable TV converter or other set top box - unless you're using an antenna.

You're looking for a button that is called "Resolution". What source are you trying to watch? Is it Antenna, Cable Box, Sat Box, etc. - what is the make and model of this box and the TV?

Comcast put in a new hd box and now we cant get the remote to work to change the channel we have to trun off at tv on the side

I'm assuming you got a new remote with the cable/sat box. These remotes can act as universal remotes but must have a code input that will operate your particular brand of TV. This should allow for turning the TV on and off and controlling the volume if you are using the TV speakers. You should also check that the correct button has been pushed on the remote to operate the channel selection on your cable/sat box. There should have been a user manual given to you with the new cable/sat box that will detail the process for finding and inputting the code and other troubleshooting. You may also find answers on the cable/sat provider's website. Good luck.

Remote will not respond. New batteries installed. I can change channels at receiver, but the remote will not do anything, even though all the led's on the remote will show lite when pushed. 6.4 ir/uhf...

Is the remote for TV 1 or TV 2. If it is for TV 2, the blue tab with the number 2 should already be on the bottom of the remote. If it's for TV 1, you need to remove the blue tab from the bottom of the remote and flip the tab over (should be a green tab with only a green 1 on it). Once you change the tab, see if you can change channels. If you can't, follow the instructions below.

At your TV 1 location on your receiver, press the System Info button to display the System Info on your TV. At the bottom of the screen, you should see Primary and Secondary Remote Addresses. Make a note of the remote addresses. With the new remote, press the record button. If this is the TV 2 remote (blue tab on the bottom), the secondary number may change; if TV 1 remote (green tab on the bottom), the primary address should change. Exit from all the menus on the TV screen till you are back to your TV picture - then try the remote.

If the above steps do not work, try the instructions below to manually program the remote to the receiver.
  • Remote to the receiver:
    1. Go to System Info screen.
    2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
    3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
    4. Press the pound (#) button.
    5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful, the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

How to program for sat

You do not need to program the TV for SAT because your signal comes directly from the SAT, you are only using your TV as a monitor, not a tuner. Connect your SAT via standard rca, component, or hdmi cable and change the input on your TV to the same input that you have connected your SAT to. If you connect via coax cable then set your TV to channel 3 or 4, ALWAYS using your SAT remote to change channels for both options.

With the other Mintek remote that is still intact first try to change the channel on the smaller Mintek television. Usually the remotes have a . or - in order to accommodate analog or digital channels. So directv is usually channel 3.0/3-0 or channel 60.0/60-0 or sometimes another channel as advised by direct tv. Try pressing 03 first or 60/61/whatever channel you are supposed to be on. If that doesn't work try 3.0/3-1 and then the enter/ok key. Try the channel up and down button as well.
