My Sony Vaio won't print using my printer HP C6180

My printer was working now it's not. I have two macs connected with an airport to my printer HP C6180 they print fine. So did my Sony Vaio and then it stopped printing and I can't get it to print again. I downloaded the driver from HP for Vista for my printer and still it wont print. I saw another post for this on your website and tried that solution but that didn't work either. This is the mother of all problems.....Help

Wow, I have the same Hp Printer and the same problem!

  • Anonymous Apr 05, 2008

I am having the same problem with my Vaio laptop operating system vista. My printer just stopped working. I've removed the printer & software from the laptop and reinstalled (advised by HP support) and it worked for 1 day and won't print again. Is there any help out there?!

same problem -- was working for months - stopped. other computers on the network use a usb port to access the shared printer. This is not an option on the sony. if you chose "add port" it is still not an option.

SOURCE: HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One Is printing All Documnets Faded Colors

Try to clean your printheads or check the level of your inks, maybe you are low on inks. Operating system does not affect any printing outputs as I know. Check your inks also coz HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. If ink cartridges have been refilled, try replacing them with genuine HP ink cartridges.
If the print defect is minor, it might be caused by reserve mode operation. When the printer runs out of some colors, it can continue printing using remaining inks, but print quality may be affected. If cyan, magenta, or yellow is out, the printer can print only in grayscale.
Replace any empty print cartridges. To check ink levels, follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Setup button.
  2. Press the down arrow button until Tools is highlighted.
  3. Press OK .
  4. The Display Ink Gauge selection should be highlighted. Press OK and the ink gauge will display.
OR try calibrate the color:
  1. Open the printer Toolbox :
  • Open HP Solution Center (click Start , then All Programs , then HP , then HP Solution Center ).
  • If you have more than one printer installed, make sure to select the correct printer tab in HP Solution Center .
  • Click Settings .
  • Click Print Settings .
  • Click Printer Toolbox .
2. On the Device Services tab, click Calibrate Color , then follow the onscreen instructions. The procedure takes about two minutes and requires two sheets of paper.
If the steps above did not help, clean the print head.
  1. Open the All-in-One Toolbox :
    1. Open HP Solution Center (click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center ).
    2. If you have more than one All-in-One installed, make sure to select the correct All-in-One tab in HP Solution Center .
    3. Click Settings .
    4. Click Print Settings .
    5. Click Printer Toolbox .
  2. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , and then follow the onscreen instructions. Three levels of cleaning are available.
Please let me know if these steps helped you or not. Thanks

SOURCE: Does HP laserjet 1020 work with Airport Express

I removed any printer configurations for this printer in both my pc and my mac (both usb and wireless). Then I restarted both computers and added the printer via usb again to each. At that point I went back to the extreme configuration and under the printers tab it was finally seeing Hewlett Packard Laserjet 1020. After that, adding via Bonjour went smoothly on both platforms.

Go to www.hp.com. let the PRINTERS section auto-detect your printer and download the drivers automatically.

F380 connected to airport express - usb /cannot print

Look for the drivers for F300 series - you may need to download them from HP's site. They're generic, but they work - unless you're trying to print through Airport!

Airport Express, Bonjour Printing Does Work With Leopard

In the setup of the Airport network settings, you have to make sure that AppleTalk is actually turned on (or the box is checked). When using Mac's with Leopard and you use both the ethernet port and airport off and on, the OS tends to deactivate AppleTalk. Its not a set thing, just random.
