I recieved a garmin Nuvi GPS as a gift less than a year ago and just yesterday the display stopped working. The screen just lights up solid grey. I can hear the beeping when I touch the screen, but absolutely no images show up. I am not sure of the model as it is can only be displayed on the screen (which doesnt work). Anything I can do to fix it?

You will need a USB cable to make this connection. Any USB generic charger will work. I used on my Garmin the Motorola cellphone USB cable. The procedure is like this: Connect, start Garmin Nuvi and disconnect; then reinsert the USB plug when your Nuvi model number is displayed at the bottom of the screen. You can even charge your Garmin this way. To reduce the charging time follow these steps: # change the display brightness to less than 25% # turn off the Garmin device.
I have Garmin nuvi 265T. I dont see the battery icon on the main screen. Also, when i unplug the GPS device, it turns off (as if there is no battery).. Does this means that the battery is dead? The device is less than a year old... pls advice.
two things it could be first.. you cleaned it with windex or some kind if cleaner which damaged the screen or the lcd in the unit is going out common in the older garmins... if this is the case you will have to send it back to garmin to have it repaired
