What type of cable are you using to connect the TV & DVD together?

You may also need to connect the 2 RCA(Phono) plugs for Left & Right Channel sound if you have used an S-VHS cable for the video link-up.

No sound or picture from dvd

And you have selected the HDMI2 input in the TV menu? If yes, try the dvd on another TV, if you have one. Also try reversing the HDMI cable.

The VHS tapes will not playback on the Samsung TV (flat screen)..the Samsung TV is a Syncmaster 2333 HD...the Samsung dvd/vhs unit is a DVD-V9800 The DVD discs will play just fine. How should I be...

On these combo units, the VCR will not play using component cables but the dvd's will play just fine.

What you need to do is run a pair of composite (Yellow, red and white) cables and use that for VCR and component (Green, blue, red, white and red) for the dvd player.

Make sure you switch the tv to the corresponding input.

Rainbow color effect appears when Samsung LCD plays Wii or DVD

Hello, I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used? If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii. Goodmans Tv wont show dvds

Usually with DVD players, picture & no sound, or sound & no picture is caused by the scart lead not being plugged in properly.

Sound pins are at one end of the connector and audio pins at the other.

If you are using scart make sure that the plugs at both ends are pushed in all the way. The plastic part of the plug should just touch the socket.

If you are using S-Video (Round connector with 4 pins) you also need to connect a twin phono-phono (Red & Black or White) lead to carry the audio, as S-Video only carries video.
