STATUS LIGHT will FLASH RED when charging. Allow at least 30 minutes for a full charge. STATUS LIGHT will turn ORANGE, and then turn off when charging is complete. blinking red light means camera is trying to charge flash circuitry. if you cancel flash mode, you can use taking picture. But if you want to repair, your local repair shop would charge around $35 to 75 depend on what they really want to charge.

The flash does not charge separate from the rest of the camera. Try cleaning the flash sensor on the front of the camera or the flash led may be bad.
Secondly, this light functions as a flash sensor which is trying to tell you that you need to use a flash although you may have the flash manually turned off. looks like a bolt of lightning with a circle/slash through it.
