I have a 3 year old GE Side by Side (GSL25IGRE) fridge. The blower in the freezer (Below the ice maker) makes an annoying high pitch humm when it runs. When you turn the dial to off the humm stops. Do I need a new fan /motor or something else. I checked the fan and it is not touching the sides.
What you need is a new updated computer main board. Thay are fairly cheap and easy to install. My GE Side By Side did the same thing and the new motherboard worked like a charm. I think that this is the one you need but you can email the seller with your model number and he will tell you which one to get WR55X10552 GE Refrigerator Mother Board fits WR55X10335 GOOD LUCK

You appear to have a problem with the defrost components (defrost thermostat and/or heater(s)) located behind the freezer rear panel where all of the ice has built up.
Problems not related. The first is most likely the fan, or possibly water dripping on to the fan and freezing, but usually the noise comes from the fan struggling to run. The cube problem could be as simple as the ice dispenser being put back in wrong. There is a metal lever under the ice tray that switches between crushed and cubed. Make sure it is seated properly.
clean the coil behind the fridge or under the fridge (where ever they are) and make sure both fans are running, the one in the freezer and the one underneath freezer needs to be 0 degree F to start ice maker
The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.
Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).
Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.
I also had the same problem (gsh25jfta ww). It did that for a couple of months now the coils freeze up and fridge gets warm. Still looking for solution?
Mine was making a moaning, whistling noise coming from just above the ice maker. It happened when the fan speed changed. I learned on this site that the motherboard was probably defective.
Rather than go thru GE, we found a new one online for 66 bucks. I replaced it in about ten minutes and it's all fixed. Poor materials on the original, but this site was very helpful.
check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing,
check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer Freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
same problem
