Hi,
You cannot use the ± in the definition of a function. If you need to consider two alternatives, you have draw each function separately, one function as Y1 and the other as Y2. I just checked the catalog of commands, and there is no ±.

Hope it helps.

Cant find ! button

There is no such thing as a TI89 Plus Silver Edition.

If you mean the TI-89 or TI-89 Titanium, press diamond / (the diamond key below the 2ND key, then the divide key).

If you mean the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition or the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, press MATH left-arrow 4 .

Is it possible to change the faceplate of the TI-84 Plus calculator?

Yes, you can change the faceplate of the TI 84PLUS Silver Edition only, not the TI 84 Plus. Face plates are available for purchase at the TI online store. When you go the online store, select the country, then the calculator model. You will find them under accessories for the TI 84 Plus SE.

Make sure that it is a negative sign and not the minus sign. The answer by the way is about 6.09787589

Is there a positive/negative sign all in one on the ti-84? like to use for the quadratic formula... -b (plus or minus[symbol here?]) the square root of... the rest

No. The calculator can calculate either value at one time, but not both. You can calculate the positive and then the negative (or the other way around), but a single calculation cannot produce two answers. A calculation can produce, for example, a list with two elements, but that's still a single result (a list).
