Question about Tivoli Kloss Model One AM/FM Radio

Tivoli Radio - Station Fading Out

Hi,

I purchased the Tivoli Model One Radio about 2 weeks ago. I've noticed that strong FM stations in our area when tuned in correctly with the yellow light indicating strong reception, will fade out after a period of an hour or so. Even cheap radios that I have will maintain a lock on a tuned-in station. What do you think the problem might be? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I was very diasppointed to find that this sort of fading happens all the time with my radio. Also the Model CD player was very unreliable and finally it broke down. Alltogether I do not recommend buying these "hifi" systems.

I have the same problem. I found if I tune to another station at the opposite end of the frequency range, then return after a while I receive my station fine, but then after a while the fade comes back.

Model One has frequency drift. After switch ON, needs re-tuning after 10 min during the first hour. Afterwards stabel oscillator.

Which capacito causes this drift and how to replace?

SOURCE: antenna on radio broke

Radio Shack can get you an antenna, or a long wire (or wire coat hanger actually works too)

SOURCE: Tivoli Model One Radio Humming only, no reception

The fuse would cause a total absence of power. Your problem is likely a blown filter capacitor in the power supply. Unless you have electrical/electronic skills, the radio will require professional repair.

How do you auto preset radio stations?

Hello
[1] Press RADIO BAND.AUTO PRESET until the band you want appears on the display [direct power ON]. Each time you press the button the indication changes as follows. "FM" => "AM"
[2] Hold down TUNE+ or --ve until the frequency digits begin to change in the display.
The player automatically scans the radio frequencies and stops when it finda a clear station. If you can't tune in a station, press the button repeatedly to change the frequency step by step.
If FM band is noisy, press the MODE repeteadly until "MONO" appears in the display and the radio will play it monatural. If FM radio signal at your area is very weak, this type of noise may occur. OK.

Wont stop on a station when search button is pressed

The autosearch feature stops on stations based on a preset threshold for radio station signal strength.

If your radio has done this on both AM and FM from when it was new, it is probably an internal problem with the circuit board electronics or possibly because you are in an area where strong signals are absent (such as a rural area or inside a building that interferes with signals).

If the radio won't stop searching at all, the 'Search' button' may be stuck.

If you find that your radio is skipping stations only on FM, it may be a defective or broken external antenna or, again, maybe you are in an area where strong signals are absent (such as a rural area or inside a building that interferes with signals).

Hope this helped.

Can't seem to tune many stations at all. Also once a station is tunned it "slips".

The antenna works with the power cord. Try extending the length of its power cord with an extension cord.
Position of the radio in the room, the furniture in the room and your position in relation to the radio all affect its reception.
If there is a place to connect an external antenna, this will be helpful. Check with Radio shack and best buy for a FM loop antenna. Usually the wire is flat.
An inexpensive antenna for FM only is also a cheap alternative
