Video has squigly lines in it at the top of screen ..

Squigly lines run from left to right at the top of a picture. They are not actual lines but the video itself is squigly.

Small board called a hyper module bad .....can be rebuilt be
skilled tech or sent for rebuild..........................T.

    R & R all 10mf 16v bad caps.....can be checked using an ESR

    meter or just change them all.....Hyper board is a stand-up little

    sister on the signal board.....more info to follow..............T.

Is there anything on top of your TV? Are the sides or rear right up against anything?

If so, the problem could be that there is not enough ventilation. Make sure there are no vent holes blocked. Also, cleaning it couldn't hurt if it's dusty.

Also, is your TV near any source of heat?

Samsung HCL5515W...when using coax input pic convergence is off, red and blue seem off....when I use the component inputs it constantly flickers between the squigly lines and picture with convergence off?...
on component your device may have to be on progressive. old dvd players you could switch back and forth on progressive and normal. the squigly lines sound like you need to make sure its on progressive. hook it up using the yellow video slot on player and tv (any cable will work). go into menu and look for progressive and change it on.

sounds like a solder related issue on the convergence ICs. They are acessed through the front of the TV behind the speaker grille and then remove the small acess panel and you will see the convergence amp board with the two ICs on it.

Toshiba 57H81Problems Please Help
On this model I've found the hyper module to cause lines (Left to right) in the picture. Usually at start up and half the screen, then after warm up, the set will clear up some or completely. Of course a picture of the problem would help in diagnostics. The hyper module must be soldered in, so, knowledge of soldering is advised. This PCB can be bought at: Andrews Electroncis or Tritronics. I do this job in the home, pick up for service should not be required.

Video input from dvd player shows as black screen w/ squigly color lines
have you tried other devices for input...vcr, or other dvd players to see if it is a problem with the player or with the tv? Check the output setting for the dvd player (1080i etc) and ensure you are connecting to the proper inputs for either analog or digital signals (RCA inputs or RGB).
