The computer sends a 5 volt reference signal to the sensor and depending on how open the throttle is, the return voltage is less. The code may be saying the return voltage is too low or nothing. You would check for the reference voltage with a meter and resistance in the sensor. You may also have to check the return wire at the computer to see if there is a break in the harness.
Error code 5100 indicates that Carriage Return (CR) error occurs. This error rise when carriage unit (the part that function as cartridge housing) does not move properly. Here are some possibilities of the problem:
Carriage unit is faulty so that it cannot 'read' film timing **** strip (film encoder) properly
Film encoder is dirty. Film encoder functions as a guide for carriage unit to move to the correct position it should be. Carriage unit 'read' the encoder by flashing a light from a LED. Dirty encoder sometimes make the light direction is deviated.
Foreign material blocking carriage unit path. Please check inside the printer and remove it if any.
If carriage unit is faulty, you need bring the printer to the service center to get part replacement. For dirty film encoder, sometimes you can still clean it by using moistened cloth. I hope this will HELP you. Thanks.
If you need to have a carriage return/enter after each bar code scanned, scan the following bar codes (from the Product Reference Guide) in order:
1. <SCAN OPTIONS> (on page 12-9)
2. <DATA> <SUFFIX> (on page 12-10)
3. Enter (on page 12-11)
In your programming manual there is a barcode scan that needs to be scanned in that adds the carriage return function. To do this you will first need to scan the barcode to put the unit into program mode, then scan the carriage return barcode, then scan the end programming code. Now when you scan a barcode the scanner will add the return to the sequence it sends to the computer. If you can't find your programming book you can download the sheets from the Symbol web site.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
Is the carriage rail clean, and lightly lubricated?
Cheat the door switch and observe the carriage moving at boot up.
(Keep your fingers out of the way!)
See if you can spot where it sticks. Sometimes the printhead capping unit / service station seizes up, and the carriage cannot leave / return to the home position.
This model was not one of their best.... Good luck
If Wii gives Disc Read Error, First step you need to check is to try
another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem
is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read
error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide,
that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It

US2 isn't in my little black book....could you have mis-read it ? U2/- on all Xerox machines refers to scan function.Usually the scan lamp is obstructed or tight for some reason, take the glass off and gently move the scan assembly across and back . OK? check if position sensors are not knocked out of position OK? Does the carriage move at all at switch on? These questions are only relevant to U2 codes so if different we need more info to be able to help
