Question about Dynex (TE685AVR) UPS System

2 Answers

Dynex TE685AVR I have had this surge surpressor for about 5 years. The green light is still on but when the electric power is interrupted, it no longer provides power to my computer allowing me to shut down safely. Is there anything I can do to fix this---other than buying a new surge supressor.

Thanks for your help. I took my UPS to Best Buy and the guy from Geek Squad tested the plug-ins. He determined that the 3 surge protector plugs were working, but the 3 surge/battery back-up plugs had some sort of electrical problem. I ended up buying a new UPS and will use the old one to protect an extra TV and DVD player that I have. I still may try replacing the battery and see what that does, but it's possible that my old UPS fielded too many lightning strikes or power surges. I appreciate you taking time to answer my problem.

No power to the UPS. My modem was plugged into this unit. I couldn't get on-line from my laptop, when I went to take a look, there was no power to the modem. Will try to replace the battery.

System drops off line when lightning hits. Battery show zero charge but working normally. Sometimes takes several minutes before resets so computer will work again.

You need to replace the battery in your UPS. I went to the mfg. to find your model but i was unable to find the model you had posted. You should be able to take the battery out and go to a retail place like battery plus to get the battery you need. If not you may be able to get it from the manufacturer. After replacing the battery you should fine. Here is a link to the web site.

First I suggest you get a UPS and attach ALL your devices on battery backup. Power surges/power interruptions could be detrimental to your electronics. After a Power Interruptions ALL your devices may have to be rebooted one by one, allowing each to selftest. If you live where the power goes off often or electrical storms are common, it's crucial to use Surge protectors and a Universial Power Supply.

It is probably the same problem I just had with mine through Comcast. All I was getting was a not answered message no matter what number I dialed. I had the telephone line running through a surge surpressor that had one line running in and then two lines running out. I had been hooking up my fax through one of the two out lines. When I switched it to the main line and not through the surge protector everything worked fine.

So if you have any splitters or surge surpressors on your line - switch to the main line and see if your problems does away like mine did.

Have a great night!

The green light cimes on but there is no Picture or Sound on my dynex 32'' tv

Sounds like your power supply is shot. Possibly a fuse blown. If its connected to a surge suppressor try plugging it straight into the wall socket.

My dynex tv will not come on seems to be stuck in standby mode.

It sounds like the main power supply is trying to startup but failed because there is short circuits or the main power supply is bad. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
