are you sure you have power going to the red wire? the red wire needs to be connected to a switched (ignition) power source. the radio will not work unless both the red and yellow wires are getting power.
make sure that the power output is enabled. this will turn on you internal amp. I have the same unit and I fouund this to be a problem. If this does not work your out put amps might be fried. good luck.

My wife experienced the same problem this month, December 2008, after owning the KDC-MP825 for 3.5 years (what's up with that?). It would power on briefly, the panel would move, then after 2 seconds it would shut down. After 15 seconds, it would power again, panel motors whir, then shut down. It would keep doing that while the key is in ignition.
This appeared to have solved the problem:
Hold down BUTTON [5], press the RESET button (you'll need a ballpen to press between the AUTO and SCRL button).
This was the procedure for getting the receiver out of demonstration mode. Maybe the cold weather here in New Jersey placed the unit into demo mode?
Assuming that the four speakers are connected to the amplifier, then the amp is the most likely problem component. Does the amplifier show a power light when the system is turned on? Note that there is probably another fuse in the amplifier power wire, near the battery.
