I have done the miscrophone test and there is nothing I am trying to use skype I can hear them but they can not hear me.

There are two obvious reasons (and a number of not-so obvious ones) for this.
1. Have you got your sound on (and adjusted properly) ? You might have your sound turned down or off on your PC or just within Skype. To test if your sound is working, try making a test call using the Skype test call facility.
2. Your friend's microphone may not be working, they may not have one or its sensitivity in Skype may be turned down or it may be 'muted'. Ask to check that her microphone is not muted. Ask her to make a test call on Skype and adjust her microphone sensitivity so that she can hear herself sensibly.

On my version of Skype the test call has appeared in 'contacts' but now it is accessible from the menu at the top left of the window from the call > audio settings menu/page. You can change your volume, microphone and speaker sensitivity settings on that page. You may have a different version of Skype of course.

There is a mic in Skype and people can hear you if you have your mic on so the person your talking can hear you. There has also been an update on Skype really long ago and that update you can only mute yourself now. Here's a photo of a test call. Try doing that to test if you they can hear you.

1. First try to check that if your mic is working fine or not. Try to use any voice recording software to record your voice, if it works then your nothing is wrong with your laptop.
2. If you are using any proxied connection, it is possible that your proxy is blocking it. it happens in college, universities.
3. Try to reinstall the OS and then reinstall all the drivers correctly and then install Skype.

check if you mic icon is on mute. also do not run YM when using skype. if this is the first time you will be using skype, make sure to use the skype mic test program

This problem maybe from his/her side, or it's also possible from you speaker settings, if you are sure that there's no mic problem from your friend, follow the instructions below; (this is to be done on your skype settings)
Sign in to your skype account > Options > click Audio Settings on the left pane > Move the Speaker slider towards the right hand side (High) > Click Test (the green play button), if you can hear the "test sound" save the settings and try calling your friend again.
(This is to be done on your friends skype settings) Let him/her log in to his/her account > Options > Audio Settings > Mic volume (slide the volume to the extreme right) > save and try again. You can also do the settings while you are on the call with him/her so that you can see/know the changes instantly. If there's no problem with the mic or speaker, this will definitely fix it.

Well in SKype as i remember u have to select a Video device and a Microphone.. make sure u have the same camera selected for sound as well as for video

When you are installing the skype software, there comes a time when skype will offer you the option to test your hardware. Here you will try out the speakers and mic, and skype will tell you if they are in skype accepted order.
My friend actually installed it not too long ago, and after the install, I saw that skype gave him the option to make a test call right on the program interface window. We used it, and it made a call to a skype computer voice which advised us that if we could hear her talking, then our speakers are fine, and to now go ahead and speak into our mic, if the mic is working we will be able to hear what we just said into it.
That was a great little way to make sure our speakers and mic were in fact working, and they were.
Try that out on your pc and your friend's pc to test components individually. If you are unable to find the test call option, or the option to test components, you can uninstall skype and reinstall the latest version, which may not be a bad idea to preclude any other weird problems which may be at fault.

Hello, No the Linksys router should not have anything to do with your Skype services. Try the following:

1. Use a different microsphone other than the one you are using now. The mic test in windows is not always reliable.

2. Follow the Skype instructions for test calls not working.

3. Check you sound setting in control panel.

If you're running the sound test through Skype's options and you click on the make a test call option, then you won't hear anything through the handset. I had the same problem and I spent a few hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working. In the end I found out it was actually working all along.

What you need to do is add the Skype contact echo123 to your contact list. It should be the first one in the list from the United Kingdom.

Once that's done you should be able to bring it up on the contact list through Skype and initiate the call through the Handset at which point it will work properly and you should be able to speak to and hear the test call. That was the only way I was able to verify that it was in fact working properly.
